KBBS '14 was amazing but I'm glad I can say I've tried it and didn't have to trade for it on the open market. If it were a 22 oz or 750 ml bottle, I'd think about going after it next year, but just won't do it for such a small bottle. Find a tasting group that will let you join that has it or try to make a regular trading partner who has access/will have access for future releases.

Being only a 12 oz bottle makes it really tough. Although I have plenty of ammo to pull one in, I've never even tried 'cuz of the thought of giving up 4-5 outstanding bottles for one small bottle. If it were a 750ml I'd give it more thought, maybe.

I shared mine with 3 other people so each got a 3oz pour. Sure, more would've been better, but 3oz was more than enough to get a full feel and sense for KBBS. There is a reason why virtually no one trades based on oz4oz: volume disparity does not matter (unless same bottle, different sizes). I'd personally try to remove the "only 12oz bottle" mental block that will keep you constantly second guessing trades.

i don't mind trading a 750 for a 12... but 6-7 very, very, very high quality 750's? no way. but that's just like, my opinion man.

I feel the same way about some of the smaller format HF and SP bottles...although the amount of good beer it takes to get KBBS is way beyond what it would take to get say a Fuzzy or BB Flora...same concept

I usually share with more than 2 friends and then I want more if I really like it. If it's just a taste and tic you're looking for I guess you're right.

I hear you and I completely understand. I'm in the same boat, but not by volume. I just have a ground rule that I won't trade for 2x or 3x more than the value of the beer. This forces me to build and maintain trade relationships to land these beers...and it works. Each person's tolerance is different, varying by personal financial situation/sense, experiences with what they have for trade, and overall sense of trade worth. The fact is that KBBS command that much to the extent that the "just a 12oz bottle" bit is irrelevant. It has in fact gone for 5, 6, 7...etc. 750ml bottles of incredible beers repeatedly, and OPs offer still gets crickets speaks to to deserved demand and desirability of KBBS. Your personal tolerance and my personal tolerance for what to give up don't really impact what is needed and what you have to give up to land one.

I thought I was the only one who was completely unimpressed with BG&E. And I'm not normally one to be overly critical.

I wasn't completely unimpressed, but I didn't see what all the fuss was about. Really liked the maple character, though.

I was also not a fan. It wasn't awful but I had it side by side with KBBS and VBDL, which might have been a mistake, but it was super 1 dimensional and thin, which in my opinion, is a sin for stout to be thin. Huge let down.

Also, I have really not enjoyed most maple stouts I've had. BB black maple, BG&E, SN maple stout, MBCP (I know not a stout, close enough). The only two that lived up to the hype was KBBS and Good Morning.

Agree w this. Have had two of the AB Huna bottles in the past year and both were oxidized messes. Probably the most disappointing whale, in terms of taste, I have had. Very rare tick however and well tickers gotta tick..... The other BA Hunas had mixed reviews among us when we had them all side by side. I personally like Huna and variants on the fresher side.

Not that it matters much, but, I've had every version of Huna that came out in bottle format, and I don't know why anyone would want to age them. Those beers WILL fade. They aren't like a zhukovs which will age pretty well. Just my $.02.
