One of my absolute biggest pet peeves is when the price of a beer (or any alcoholic beverage) is not listed on the drink menu at a bar or restaurant. I really can't think of another example of a product where it is ok not to post its price before purchasing. Yes, I know I can ask the waiter or bartender the price, but it can be extremely awkward, time consuming for the waiter when the first three beers you ask about are well above what you would pay for them, and you can seem rather cheap when you're with other people (although I usually do it anyway lol).

I just think it is a bad practice that is more common than it should be and it makes me mad haha.

Does anyone else get as uncomfortably angry at this as I do? :astonished::angry::confused:

I've found that this normally happens at "d-bag" bars that happen to jack up their craft beer prices a ridiculous rate, and so, I don't go to these bars. By "d-bag" bars I mean the ones where 98% of their beer sales are from macros, and the bar reeks of both piss and Axe body spray.

If I go to a restaurant/bar that doesn't have prices shown (or if they aren't shown, I know I won't get my ass penetrated because I've been there before), I leave.

if you have to ask how much something costs, you can't afford it!

Or you don't like being taken advantage of for no reason at all.

Just because I have the money to pay $12 for a pint of Two Hearted doesn't mean I want to do it.

I know some places that have chalk board style beer menus don't list the price. I don't mind because I know they rotate their beer selection and prefer different beers. Unless they want $10 a pint of IPA which is rare.

I like knowing what I'm getting in to. It's like going to a McDonalds, ordering off the Dollar Menu and all of a sudden, they say "That'll be 10 bucks for your Happy Meal, sir".

I agree with you it definitely is slightly agitating when prices aren't listed on a menu.
I immediately wonder if I'm about to grossly overpay for the beer I'm interested in.
My favorite place here in Baltimore doesn't list the prices on the tap menu and while I was initially reluctant I've been pleasantly surprised to get tabs that were far less than I had expected them to be.

Hate the same in a liquor store...I feel awkward asking the prices on things, but hate being surprised at the register. Yup

Agree with the OP and agree especially with you. I do indeed hate it when liquor stores and supermarkets do not mark their beer. The Whole foods nearby me doesn't label their bottles, and boy was I in for a rude awakening at the cash register!!

Not a big fan either. Show me the price because like most craft beer drinkers, I know what a certain beer should cost in a bar atmosphere. I would leave a place if their were no prices on the beer menu.

I started drinking craft beer in part to get away from the snobbery of wine drinkers. Ticks me off when places get all snooty over their beer (like not listing prices, or serving it with a bunch of attitude)!!

I don't really see this. It's the restaurants who don't list their beers, but have wine & cocktails listed in great detail. Then the wait staff tries to list what they have and they clearly don't remember most of the selections. Then they seem irritated when they list a few BMC offerings along with a handful of very common imports and they look at you incredulously that you have not already made a selection. You then make a choice that feels like a concession of sorts only to find out that they have Bell's Two Hearted on tap while sip on subpar suds.

I don't know that I've ever been anywhere that doesn't post the price of the beer.

Piss em off by asking for the price of each item. Then maybe they will learn.
