I was at a restaurant tonight with a few selections and they were not priced. It did annoy me and I figured I was going to be butt *****. It was a bit high, but not quite to the **** category. It will limit my patronage of this place in the future as they could charge me basically anything.

Just got two pints of "Mad Elf" at 6.75 a pint at a bar. Glad I didn't ask because now I feel amazing.

But seriously it was kind of jacked up by over a dollar. Not cool.

How often does this happen to you? I've been to countless beer bars and have never seen such a thing.

Haven't had this happen to me at a bar but I've definitely been surprised at 6pack/bottle shops at the counter that don't have the price listed for their products on the shelf.

I've had this happen a couple of times at different places. Bartender handed me a drinks menu with >20 beers (mostly craft) on it and no prices, asked me what I wanted and I just stood up and left. They asked me if something was wrong, and I told them I was leaving because they didn't bother to price anything on the menu.

It happens more than I'd like haha. Maybe like 30% of the the time. I generally don't go back those places haha

Unfortunately this is very common in Pennsylvania and it's extremely frustrating.

Seriously. Is this some sort of Pennsylvania thing to go along with all the other weird alcohol laws?

This is everywhere in PA. Had this happen to me just tonight where I was asked if it was "okay" that the beer I asked for was going to be $8.00. I wouldn't have bothered even asking if I knew the price beforehand, and would have saved me the embarrassment.

I agree, I don't condone any of the shenanigans that places would impose such bullshit. reminds me when i went to slaters, i was finally about to try velvet merkin for the first time on tap as they had it listed on both there online tap menu & in house menu onlly to be given something else which was 805 & I advised them hey, this is not what I ordered & began to disagree w/me only to be told later that oh we don't have it any longer as it's out.

Sometimes i believe that even though slaters states that are cicerone (? hopefully spelled it correctly) certified, they can't distinguish beers for shit.

It's a legal requirement for pubs and bars here to show all drinks prices "in a prominent place" and this is in general well carried out. Also of course there is a requirement to provide measured amounts of beer, third, half or full Imperial pint.
Prices are what it costs as bar staff are paid a wage and tipping is neither expected nor welcomed.
There is sometimes a slight delay when changing a beer , that's all.Beers often run out at busy times and serving customers takes priority over updating the beer list.

Seafood, such as lobster I've seen on menus listed as "market price."
But I've never NOT seen the prices listed for beers.
Now the beer lists or in some places lack there of, is another matter & another thread.

I don't think it's cheap to want to know what they are selling you and for how much. I mean in my opinion, and I am particular about shopping, I want my experience to be handed to me. Merchandise on the shelf or on a list, prices included. Even at the bottle shop I will leave any beer right there if it is not clearly marked. It's not that I mind asking a question either, it's that I want to spend my time mostly alone while shopping.

If there's not a price tag or price listed, I don't buy it.

Its also quite annoying when they don't list the serving size. Nothing grinds my gears more than ordering a "pint" of DIPA for $7 and it arrives in an 8oz snifter.

If it's a dollar menu, then the price is listed.

Yes! This is common in restaraunts in Ohio, but I have seen it out of state too. Not in tap rooms, or craft bars per sey, but many restaraunts dont even have offerings listed. The chains seem to be the biggest offenders. They will have their "Bud, Miller, Coors, Blue Moon" on the menus since they dont ever change, but no prices other than having a happy hour special on the table
