Aphasia has been bottled. The first time, ever!

Aphasia: A medium bodied dark brown Old Ale with a sizable nose of molasses and alcohol. Predominantly sweet, with unique flavors of plum, figs, and brown sugar. Further compliments of toasted malt and an increased ABV, aid in a pleasant warming finish.

    9% ABV

    25 IBU

Not barrel aged and not hyped. Must be no good.

Maybe @HopHeadHerman can give you a more concrete explanation, but from the beer announcement on Short's website:

"Years ago, as Short’s Head Brewer Tony Hansen began to assume more responsibility as a brewer, he realized that he could fulfill his love for home brewing at the Pub, on a larger scale, every day! Never wanting to waste valuable ingredients, Tony set out to brew one last batch of beer at home.

Hoping to create a delicious brew, he tried to design an Old Ale using only the ingredients remaining in his personal stockpile. Fortunately for all of us, Tony’s experiment was incredibly successful and resulted in the beer we now know as Aphasia."

I'm guessing that was the reasoning behind the trash cans.

Picked up a sixer last night and really liked it. Molasses for sure.

I know you're just poking fun at that clearly highly informed dude [who's dad was like totally in the beer industry for 45 years], but sarcasm aside, the barrel aged Aphasia is probably my favorite barrel aged offering from Short's.

Might wanna grab this beer if you see it, sounds like it just got way more limited (with this name & label at least).

Just read their post on FB. Another classy move by Short's. It was probably WhoKnew23's dad that made em change the name.

I'll send you the empty sixer I just drank but it needs to be replaced with a full sixer with the revamped label

Everyone is so damn PC nowadays... Constantly apologizing and afraid to offend anyone... Now spilling into the craft beer world. Shouldn't you have the freedom to name a beer whatever you want? If it offends anyone, then DONT BUY IT. So I guess I'm now labeled as insensitive?

However, With that rant said, I do commend the Shorts crew for their position in making the situation right. And even going the extra mile with a charitable contribution. This is a damn good brew and I'm delighted to see it sticking around... Even as a rebrand

There is the freedom to name a beer whatever you want (within some limits). Short's could have left the name as is. In this case, I don't think the name of the beer was as offensive as the slogan, "some things are better left unsaid."

Cool to see Short's making a donation to MSHA.
