What particular beer or beer style first comes to mind when you think of beer?

some likely candidates could be Duvel, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Pilsner Urquell, Orval, Fullers ESB, etc. The example should be representative of all aspects of beer.

Munich Helles, although that's more of a word-association type response.

One that represents all aspects will probably take some thinking, and still won't necessarily be a great example in the end. That's why there are so many different types in the first place.

When I think of beer, I think of bitter and hoppy. Which if you want to get styles involved, IPA's and Pale Ales.

I usually think of amber lagers. Something like Great Lakes Eliot Ness or Brooklyn Lager. Real good balance of malts and hops. Flavorful without being overbearing. Just what I want when I want "just a beer".

Two beer styles come to my mind. Amber Lager and English Porter. Where subtle nuances are evident and doesn't scorch your palate. Plus I can drink a few without the worry of a Field Sobriety Test.

Brown ale, which sits at the intersection of multiple styles of ale. Ironically enough, it may be most underappreciated style in craft brewing.

I answered the question as a reflex from the heart rather than the mind.

When some one asks about "good" beer I thoughts go straight to Three Floyds regular line-up of beers out of habit. So I would say the multiple styles of Pale Ale is what I associate.

For me it is Classic American Pilsner; the beers that my grandparents drank 'back in the day'.

    Cheers!

I hate to say it but when someone says beer, I cant help to think about Budweiser/bud light/ any type of AAL.

When I think about beer I would say it usually starts with Stouts
