There is a very fair and generous texas trader posting in this very thread

I can't tell how tongue-in-cheek you're being, but several of the best traders I know are from Texas, so I'd say it's more like most are great traders and a few suck, just like *gasp* every other part of the country.

Just a little tongue in cheek.

I responded to an Assassin ISO and he offered 2 of the fruit sours. Less than I got for Darkness.

No wonder the ISO didn't close.

I really don't think you should use your 3:1 Darkness as a measuring stick for other deals...some deals are just one-time outliers...like the guy who gave up 4 BA Darkness for an Assassin...I wonder if a BA Darkness could even go 1:1 with the JK Blanc (latest release) right now. Moral of the story is if you want a fair deal and want to trade $4$, find a regular trading partner.

There's an IP ISO for Assasin for 11,12,13,14 Darkness, so 4x Darkness is not far off for Assassin, IMO.

    And I would hope 750 ml's $20 100-rated BA stout would trade 1:1 with $16 500ml sour, but what do I know?

Like anything else just takes the right set of eyes...I've had multiple Assassin and Darkness by the way as well as all of the JKs, so I'm not trying to de-value or raise the value of anything here.

Seems to me all JK sours should be going for the equivalent of similar limited release beers. Just traded a Leon B2 for 2 JK sours. Pretty much $4$, I threw in a bottle or two of bcbs to even out the cost.

The other thing to consider here, particularly with MvB and CdT, is that the release was a "reserve your bottle online" 1 per person event. No proxies were allowed, and you had three weeks after the release to pick them up. Any bottles left at the end of that 3 week period were for sale at 1 per person. Unless you were able to line up a bunch of mules and have their drivers license ready quickly, you only got one bottle of each. This same process was the case for Atrial b1, but there was a 3 per limit on that.

"I can't imagine Darkness going for only 1 sour"

Seriously? How many bottles of Darkness were bottled this year and versus how many bottles of the most prevalent JK sour? Darkness was also distributed, was it not?

    C'mon man!

1,500 people camped out ovenight in Minnesota in late October for Darkness, when people are lining up the day before a Jester King release you let me know.

It's fine that we can disagree on this, I've gotten 2+ for Darkness before but it seems like that's a thing of the past with JK decreasing output and limiting bottles to 1 per person.

Maybe I just need to come to terms that I won't be drinking any Jester King until they ramp up production a bit.

I hear ya, but you didn't address the questions I asked. Did you have to camp out overnight for it or did you just do it because you wanted to? Maybe you did have to, I don't know. But I thought it was distributed and not brewery-only, definitely please correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right, it was distro'd as well. I'm unsure on bottle counts. I wasn't able to get any in distribution, it sold out the day it was distro'd before I got out of work at 3:30 pm.

I stopped at 3 stores on my way home (and I live in the burbs) and all of them said they got a case but it sold out within the hour. Not sure if the folks downtown had better luck.

Gotcha. Look, all I'm saying is that the fact that you camped out for the beer doesn't make it more valuable in most people's eyes. Particularly one that many people were able to obtain without doing so.

And you seem to be using the trade that was in your favor the most as your barometer to gauge all subsequent trades. I got a Darkness this year 1:1 for a Triple C Dude Imbibes. But that doesn't mean that from here out I think that's the going rate for Darkness, I just recognize that I hooked up with a great trader who was down to do a deal that we were both happy with.

That makes sense. That was my first experience with Jester King traders, so that's all I had to go by until I tried to refill my cellar with a couple of the things that I liked (C5, O&P) and I found out Assassin could only get two of those bottles. No disrespect to Jester King, but I'll keep the assassin.

Now I know. I guess this has been a learning experience for me.

I mean I'm not trying to act like some sort of Jester King sour trade value guru, because I most certainly am not. I'm just saying, that's how most people on the open trade forums are gonna view it. As others have been said repeatedly, it's all about finding a repeat trading partner and building relationships.

The first regular partner I ever made on here was an Austin guy and I can't express enough how appreciative I've been to have him looking out for me. But I love all JK stuff, not just the sours. Try some of their other saisons outside of the Petit Prince and Wunderkind some time if you can, I personally could never have enough of stuff like Deltritivore, the Provenances, and even Wytchmaker.

I have a Wytchmaker at home, I'll open it soon! I don't know why, but I did not enjoy Wunderkind. I think it was too bready/yeasty for me, if that makes sense.

Wunderkind is kinda weird. I still kind of liked it, but it's definitely my least favorite of all the JK beers that I've had.

Don't they camp out for the bottle share more than anything? I mean you could stroll in anytime that day to get your Darkness bottles right? It wasn't like you wouldn't get bottles if you didn't camp out like some of these types of releases go where you HAVE to camp out if you want bottles.

Also, whats this about JK decreasing output? They have put out more beers this year than, well ever! My wallet has taken a beating this year because of it. These latest fruits have been somewhat small batches but Atrial and Noc were over 6000 bottles and limit 2 earlier this year. There has never been that many Atrial bottles at once. I think the batch before that was just over a few thousand.
