Now, I'm about as big a Founders fanboy as there is. But I have to admit being pretty disappointed about the fact that Red's Rye is not being bottled in 2015. Instead, we get three months of Black Rye, one month less of Breakfast Stout and six months of Rubaeus. :slight_frown: Does Rubaeus really sell that well? I guess this suggests that it does...

I wish they had done three months each of Black Rye, Red's Rye, Rubaeus and Breakfast Stout.

    What are everyone else's thoughts?

Rubaeus is like crack. Nobody admits to liking it, but clearly somebody is doing it.

Anything that means less Breakfast Stout is never good.

I agree, I think 6 months is a lot of Rubaeus. Im curious as to where Mosaic Promise falls on this and last years calendar. Its not listed on the 2014 release calendar, and its not part of the backstage series?

It was a one time brew to benefit artprize and released only to limited markets. They did a black ipa for it last year. So they may or may not make another different beer.

At least we now have ther perfectly named Dark Penance though...

Penance: voluntary self-inflicted punishment as an outward expression of repentance for having done wrong.

    Used in a sentence? Sure...

I drank Dark Penance as a penance because I overpaid for Dark Penance and my mood has become increasingly dark.

I really liked the Dark Penance, but I have heard others such as yourself that didn't really care for it. What about it wasn't to your liking? For me it was my second black ipa and I felt it hit all the notes that that style should have, slight roastiness but that DIPA hop bitterness that I like. Nice creamy mouth feel, and the alcohol was hardly noticeable for it being an +8% brew. I really liked it but I did have it really fresh so that might have had something to do with it

I'd take Red's Rye over Centennial any day. I was really hoping to see it in bottles.

They brew a new beer for art prize each year, they are signed on as the sole beer sponsor for at least 5 years, so expect three more beers.

Never had the Rubaeus. Is it something like the New Glarus raspberry tart? I could drink that for six months in the summer.

I thought they were similar, yes. Rubeaus is a little bit bigger but they are comparable and both enjoyable once in a while.

In a blind taste test, I think many people would think it similar to lienie's berry weiss. It is more juice than beer.

    Raspberry tart blows rubaeus away.

Was really hoping to see Mosaic Promise on the 2015 calendar... I haven't heard a single complaint about it (except why don't they make more!!!)

The Backstage Series is never listed on the calendar. There's still hope for distribution of 750's later in the year.
