Just received word from my Bell's distributor to pull all Mercury from my coolers. Not many details at this time, but hold on before cracking into any more. Too bad, I really liked it.

edit// I'll update this post if I hear more.

I'll be the first. I know Bell's was doing a planet thing, but recalling Mercury, well, it's ironic, isn't it?

    Why is it ironic?

Word is "something with the glass". Brings to mind the Corona recall a few months back. I'm guessing some shavings or grit were found in some bottles. I've drank 6 in the past week, and I'm still standing, but better safe than sorry.

My beer guy called (yeah I know) and said that some of the bottles chipped/cracked when capped so there is a possibility of glass in the beer.

Just called the General Store, it's just a certain batch.

    Did they say which batch?

No the guy on the other end didn't seem to know that much, just that it was one batch and that other batches are fine. Still have quite a bit at the General Store he said. The bottles I have are batch #13722 and packaged on 12/04 and they are fine.

So it would be obvious if there was a problem? Not sure exactly what the issue is as my beer guy probably heard it 3rd hand.

I called earlier today after my beer dealer asked me if I had any, and if so to return it. The cafe bartender had not heard anything, so they put me on with the Production manager. He confirmed there was a report of a single bottle that contained a piece of glass and they were still investigating whether this was an isolated incident or not, they had not issued a recall as of around 2 p.m. he even offered to take my number and call me with the results, which i didn't feel like bothering him with.

Hi guys, it wasn't a beer quality issue. It was just a certain bottle type that has minor defects. Others in the past led to improper seals or other minor "bottle meets cap" quality issues (oxidation, leaking, other mundane things) but bells is careful and wants the consumer to get the best stuff in their cup

I drank one last night. The cap was so loose when I put my bottle opener on it I didn't even apply much pressure and it fell off. No carbonation, no fizz or anything. I was going to email Bells tonight and I just saw this thread and it reminded me to do so. The beer was flat...total drain pour.

I just drank one an hour ago... It wasn't amazing, but certainly didn't taste tainted or anything

I heard they accidentally added mercury to the boil.
