Hopslam Season

Hey, it's been true in recent years. 2011-ish and previous were best, in my humble opinion. Maybe it's the transport, storage, etc.

 

Don't listen to the naysayers, the beer is amazing. You get in line and you stand there and you buy a case. You will LOVE it and if you wind up missing out, you will have NO IDEA what you are missing!

 

With all the this year isn't as good posts and how it's faded I am surprised it's still so sought after. Good thing I don't have to worry about it in Cali. Traded for it a few times but not worth the added shipping costs now that I've had it a few times.

Hopefully, this is the best year ever.

 

I had it for the first time last year. Bought a case just based on the hype (yeah, I'm that guy [I was a new BA]) I don't regret it and I hope to do it again. I was being facetious when I replied to @Roguer's comment, but I really do think it has earned the hype. I absolutely loved that beer. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

 

I'm just stoked that Bell's now has distribution in SoCal

 

I'm sure I will have a couple. Not gonna stand in line for it though.

I bought a 6 pack last time down in North Carolina and loved it. Shared a couple with some friends that wanted to try it and never had the chance. I've had it on tap a handful of times (Busy Bee Cafe in Raleigh) and I think it's fantastic. I will definitely try to pick some up if I can get it locally here in VA.

 

I'd just like to add that I have NEVER had Hopslam before, and I'll be doing my damnedest to find some when it comes out...

 

Love the stuff. Looking forward to it again this year.

You've just got to drink it fresh, this one does not age well IMO.

 

I saw my first Hopslam in a local bottle store on Wednseday........... bottled in 2012 :/

 

I can just picture the look on my wife's face if I asked her to run around town to grab some beer for me (it would be something like "are you fucking kidding me?"). However, she would probably do it for me if I couldn't do it myself.

But I would never tell anyone I didn't even like the beer.

Anyway, I like Hopslam, but it is really overpriced. If Sucks hits in 6-packs, I probably won't get any Hopslam.

Nugget Nectar usually comes out around the same time and it's something I look forward to more.

 

I really liked it but didn't get it last year. If I had access to it I would buy some but not chase it down.

 

It starts all ready.

 

To be honest, I'm more excited about Rye on Rye and Nugget Nectar. Hopslam is over hyped and consequently overpriced imho.

 

Just chase your favorite DIPA with a shot of honey and call it a day.

 

I don't care what anyone thinks (I'm talking to you, beer hipster elitists), Hopslam is delicious.

 

It's a very good beer that makes people act goofy. It's fun to watch for a little while. The BCBS variants brought out the true jerks. More power to those that like the hunt and chase. What a ritual!

Local bottle shop sold out last year in a few hours so I didn't get any. A few months later we went to Pensacola and I was shocked to see a pizzeria had it sitting on the menu. Was pretty tasty but not worth waiting in line for a single 12oz bottle.
