I'm referring to the mom and dad,,,dad started smoking in the tent and someone grabbed a no smoking sign off the tent wall and taped it right next to him at eye level. It was awkward for a few moments the. Everyone kissed and made up.

Um, that was me smoking. I didn't see the sign and cordially stopped. Wow, you just made me feel 20 years older than I am. And no it wasn't my kid and the old lady not my wife. Was just talking to them. Wow, that hurt.

After that l, me and then boys from Phili hit it off pretty good. Great bunch of dudes. Funnier than shit too

Hang in there old timer. I have been filling grolwlers, home brewing and hanging out at brew pubs for over 20 years. I frequently feel like the old timer with this huge influx of youngsters that this hobby has drawn the last year or two

Thanks. Us FOG's gotta hang tough against the young bucks.

Funny is that I turn 50 in March so I get my AARP discount and move up a set of tees for golf. Winning.

Sorry, didn't mean it disrespectfully. If there is a bright side...the person I thought was your kid looked like an asshole.

I'm glad that I got to meet @Hendy-son that morning in line, he's a great dude. He offered me hand warmers, coffee, and the whole bit. In my mind a true advocate of craft beer.

Funny how people can just take one look and make up an entire story. That blueberry eisbock was well worth the wait...

No disrespect taken at all. It's all about the fun.

I'm fairly new to the Beer Forum world and I'm just looking to meet some cool peeps, drink some great suds, and have a killer time whenever possible.

I was on heavy meds that morning due to 8 screwed up discs in my neck. So I might have been a little loopier than I normally am. Which kinda sucked because I had to limit myself to 3 drinks then out.

Anyhow, was great to meet ya's. As for the handwarmers and whatnot, I tend to look out for my fellow man (woman when required).

Hope you all have a safe and Happy Holidays.

I went solo, and got to taking to some great people in line also. Really cool how many nice people you can meet in the craft community. Especially surprising when you are all freezing collectively

Likewise. Didn't know you were there. I am sure we will cross paths eventually. It's always cool to put names and faces together. I did get to meet quite a few people at the solstice that I have only talked to online. That was very cool. Cheers everyone!

Jesus people, chill out. Party was fun, not perfect. Bottle release was fine for the people that got theirs. Line was long and party packed. There were line cutters and a lot of new money. Can we just leave it at that and move on please?

I don't see why we shouldn't point out the obvious flaws which had over 100 people waiting hours outside in the cold to get nothing. Kuhnhenn can definitely make improvements such as counting earlier or handing out numbered tickets in order to let people relax in the tent. They scrambled at the end to improve the situation but obviously weren't expecting so many people so early (neither was I, 400 by opening). It's too bad for me, not crying about it, but to say people who showed up at 11 don't "deserve" to even get beer is ridiculous bullshit. I just want to enjoy one of my favorite breweries, I'm not in this to prove what a beer warrior I am.

I think I am going to attend this event next year, summer or winter. I'd like to purchase a couple 6-packs.

Based on your experience from this year, what do you think is the best time to arrive so that I can get my hands on a couple six packs?

The best part was Kuhnhenn staff telling people who were in line to not bother staying in line as they were going to run out of cases shortly and the brewpub was at capacity so you wouldn't be able to get in. Didn't bother letting folks know that they could still stay in line and get pours of the BA offerings and hang out in the tent.

Nobody knows if next years event will be the same or how big the allotments will be.
