So the best brother-in-law in the world asked my wife how I do this beer trade thing and managed to trade for 2 sixers of Zombie Dust for my Christmas gift. It sure made for an awesome surprise! Wondering if anyone else got a nice beer gift this Christmas?

PS thanks to the awesome BAer out there that did this trade!

I'm on the other side, sharing with my son-in-law. Black Tuesday tonight, Wulver, Big Lushious, Brown Shugga, BA Narwhal over the next couple days. And some home brew Sherry brewed by my uncle! Nothing like sharing with friends and family.

I've been trying to get a bourbon county since I left Missouri in 09 and drank an 07 vintage. Walked into my beer shop yesterday and the clerk pulled out two bottles from behind the counter: one coffee and one barleywine! What a Christmas present for me.

I drank the coffee yesterday and loved it, though it seemed the 07 regular I had was more complex and bourbon forward, but that's been a while ago and coffee was still awesome. Can't wait to try the barleywine. Merry Christmas!

No gifts but a little Christmas miracle of my own last night.

Went into a new-ish local pizza place. Hadn't tried it before. I glance at the beer coolers across the room and what so I see? Eclipse? Yep, High West bourbon. This may not be too exciting to some people, but we definitely don't get FiftyFifty here.

$30.99 price tag, too. I know many have said this beer is overpriced, which is fine, but a 99 cent mark up is crazy low for these parts. The only other time I've seen Eclipse variants around here they were $40.

My brother picked up a bottle of Hardywood Christmas Morning and GBS for me. By far the best Christmas present I've received this year. Looking forward to trying the Christmas Morning tomorrow.

The four packs of Tank 7 and FBS I drank tonight were great, but on top of that I got 3 craft beer books I'm looking forward to reading. Might not be amazing to most people, but it was definitely a nice surprise and awesome way to celebrate craft beer for me. Whenever your friends and family recognize something you're into and put even the smallest amount of effort to recognize, that is a great example of what the holidays are all about. Very grateful for the the gifts I received this year and the company I shared this holiday with.

My sister came over for a casual Christmas Eve dinner. She brought a six pack of Union Jack and Our Special Ale 2014. Certainly not hard to find beers, but this was quite the surprise coming from a normally BMC-only lady. I was just happy she brought any beer at all!

I find the coffee is a bit one dimensional - it is hard to get away from the pure horsepower of the coffee and I thought it overpowered. It is great, but in a different way. The Barleywine is actually my favorite (had it for the first time this year) - really nuanced and complex - I am sure you are going to enjoy!

Wound up downing a delicious bomber of Chasin' Freshies and am still working on Wookey Jack. This year's Freshies is my favorite IPA of all time. Unreal. So sad it has to go away.

Does this count as a score? I'd say so:

I could see the coffee being strong enough to cover up some layers. I also noticed the coffee stout has a bit lower ABV, so there's that as well.

Well, the lower ABV is because of how they make the coffee version - they literally take a few hundred barrels of the regular version and blend it with cold brewed coffee just before bottling (so after the barrel aging). This is what cuts the ABV down a bit, they add about an ounce of coffee per bottle hence the drop. There is a long post with a link to an article somewhere on here on how they make it - can't find it though :astonished:

Found this sitting on the back bar Whole Foods last night and figured it needed a new home. Also, the boss at work put together a 12er variety pack of IPA/DIPAs that was sitting on my desk yesterday AM when I arrived at work. Sometimes Christmas comes a day early! Cheers.

Never received a beer gift from someone else in my life other than a pint glass from a local brewpub.. My wife only tolerates my drinking, so I'm ashamed to ask. I wanted to buy myself a St. Bernardus glass this year but didn't find one. I'll do it soon though
