Like a speedway stout, or any strong beer, do you drink the whole bottle by yourself? Can you drink some, put the rest in the fridge, and drink it again the next day? The reason I ask, is because none of my friends or family are really into these strong beers, and if I drink a whole bottle of speedway stout, I'll be wasted.

Beers will keep one day in the cooler so long as it is a heavily carbonated beer like a Belgian ale or a low carbonation beer like most stouts. BCS loses little over about 24 hours when kept cool.

With the high ABV 750 ml size or a 22 ox bomber size, I typically pour about half or I'm sharing it with friends and we empty the bottle. If I pour half, I keep a cork which has been trimmed to easily poke into the bottle and then fit snugly once started part way into the bottle. This "re-corking" keeps a reasonable amount of carbonation for a day or two when I finish off the rest.

In my experience, with any sort of 750, saving for later (a day or more) means a decline of carbonation and overall decline in beer drinking experience. For some, it's not that bad of a change, but most of the time it drinks like alcoholic juice. If I'm with friends, I will share, but if by myself, IT'S ALL MINE. But I still even out the time I consume it all so I don't get wasted.

Yes you drink the whole bomber by yourself. There's only one way to build tolerance....and its through consumption experience.

My ideal is to start early and stretch it out alone. If that doesn't work, I have no problem popping in a stopper (Oxo makes a good one), particularly on low carbonation stout. I wish more of these came in 4 packs -- twelve ounces at a time is a much better size, and even if I'm in the mood to kill 22-24 oz of 10% in one sitting I'd prefer the variety of having 2 beers. Alas, the price premium on bombers is way too good for breweries...

I am in a similar position where my family are not into big, high ABV beers, so I cannot really rely on anyone else. Most of my friends drink wine or lower ABV beers, and those who don't are hours away and so we rarely get to crack open bottles at home. So if I'm going to have the big, bad 10% RIS, it will have to be on my own.

I do not reseal, and would not dream of wasting it by not finishing it. The key is timing and pacing. I am careful to choose a time when I have several hours to work my way through the bottle, and aim not to have somewhere to be after I finish.

There is no time limit so I take my time and get through them in an evening. Gives the beer plenty of time to warm up and evolve.

its all about alcohol tolerance. I can pretty much handle anything beer related if I pace myself. I've gotten to the point where high ABV bombers are easy to drink. I avoid hard liquor though because I just don't like it and usually it gets me pretty messed up.

I use a good wine stopper. The best ones I've found are from pottery barn. Even with those a bomber is no good at around 24hrs after opening.

I must be a fish? Not trying to brag like a high school kid (nothing to be proud of) but a 750 ml of big beer is nothing for me to finish? It is really only like 2 regular beers in oz and less then a six pack of bud light......right?

Offer to share. If no one takes you up on it, try to soldier through. Invest in good and sturdy bottle stoppers. Any homebrew store will have them. Amazon does.

    Lightweight

If I don't drink a whole bomber, I just cap it with a beersaver and drink it the next day

Think of it this way, if you shared the bottle 3 ways, you'd only get ~9 ounces. So if you drink 9 ounces and pour the rest out, you aren't "losing" any beer and you are consuming just as much as you would had you shared. I know pouring perfectly good beer out sucks and I try to avoid it at all costs, but sometimes it happens, and in the end, nothing was truly lost.

Sometimes you want to enjoy the fruits of your labor the next day, so a good thing to invest in is a bottle stopper. I like high ABV beers, but the second glass is not as good as the first.
