someone said this in a thread before, but if you are heading over to jacks abbey, swing by Framingham Beerworks and grab a pint/growler of Nobscot IPA! It is delicious. Super soft mouth feel, citrusy hop bitterness, and crazy drinkable. Just trying to spread the word to those who may be interested!

That was probably me. Love it. Seems so unlike other beers from Beer Works. I think everyone visiting JA should pop over to Beer Works and give it a try. I'd like to figure out if it's similar to the Back Bay IPA recipe at the Boston locations that the Framingham location puts their own tweak on, or if it's a completely unique recipe from Back Back. Certainly tastes better to me but it's been a while since I've had Back Bay. I've also seen Nobscot on cask a few times with an extra dry hop...last time I saw it was Falconer's Flight - great stuff.

What really stood out to me(and I think is an underrated aspect in IPAs) was the mouthfeel. It was so super soft which really helped the bright bitterness pop. I'll catch hell for this but the mouthfeel was somewhat Julius-esq

ESP. I actually typed out in my post that if you had given it to me blind, i'd guess it was from Tree House, specifically because of the mouthfeel but also the hop presence of course. I deleted it because I don't like adding unnecessary hype. I just want people to check it out and let me know if I'm looney.

Is this only available at the Framingham Beerworks location? I'm around the Hingham Beerworks on Thursdays.

I assume it's Framingham only because the name "Nobscot" refers to an area in town.

Someone just made me aware of this thread and I figured I would chime in. I'm the head brewer at Framingham Beer Works and wanted to say thanks for the compliments on that beer. It's been one of my favorites to brew (and I brew an awful lot of it) ever since we opened in Framingham and I can confirm...it's a totally different recipe from the Back Bay.

Keep up the good work man. That beer is the only reason I keep visiting Framingham Beer Works.

I'll try it. My buddy really likes their Rye Pale Ale. Wasn't a fan of it though.

Not a rye fan either but I could sit at the Framingham Beer Works all day and double fist Nobscot and Pale 2

Nobscot is an amazing IPA. Right up there with the best in my opinion. Pale 2 is a great beer as well. Got to get there when the DIPA is on tap. Really good stuff.

Nobscot IPA has been renamed "Contender IPA" and sent to all Beer Works locations (except Logan Airport). This is to get it in front of more people and get their feedback on Back Bay IPA vs. Contender aka Nobscot as a possibility of refreshing the Back Bay recipe company wide. I'm still brewing it all in Framingham currently so regardless of what location you have it at, it all came from the same brewery.

Nice. Needless to say I'd be surprised if Nobscot doesn't win that battle.

Went to FBW on New Years Eve for lunch looking for a Nobscot, only saw Contender, so has that and I thought it was pretty good, nice color. Guess I ended up with a Nobscot after all.
