Shorts 2014 release thoughts!

My comment on 2014 is the same as the year before and the year before that...

Start bottling Sustenance again.

 

So little love for Publican ;(

 

I absolutely love stachebender! The best double IPA I had this year. I also enjoyed freedom, wowee zowee, and quasar dank were all solid. The only big miss for me was empress Catherine

 

I got your Publican love, dude. And this is prime time for a brew like that.

 

Superfluid was a beer I can never have enough of. I bought a case and a 6'er. And Im pretty sure I drank nearly 1/2 of a 1/6 barrel when we had it on tap.

 

The next 6 specialty releases consist of 2 stouts, superfluid and goodnight

 

Good! I missed out on 2014 superfluid. I now have a mission for 2015

 

Didn't have them all but had quite a few of them.

Hopstache was the beer I most looked forward to, having had it before, and Superfluid takes the spot for favorite beer I had yet to try.

Cup a Joe was the stand out for me this year though. I know its not new, but I was able to find quite a bit of it in bottles and have bumped in to it on draft twice. Breakfast Stout will always hold a special spot for me, but Cup a Joe might be my favorite coffee stout this year.

I had Space Rock on tap last week and loved it...Short's pale ale/IPA game is high and tight.

Honestly though, pretty much every week something worth while hits the shelves from Shorts.

 

Think Cup a Joe will ever get put in a barrel?

 

I doubt that cup a joe will ever be put in barrels due to the milk sugar and lactose it won't hold up well to age and will most likely become very astringent, IMO. Doesn't mean that I would love to see it in barrels it is one of my favorite coffee stouts of all time

No. I asked tony, head brewer, at hopcat. Lactose would cause the barrel to possibly explode.

 

But they barrel age moloko, I think that would have lactose as it is a milk stout?...as much as shorts expierments I'm shocked they don't TRY it....one can wish.
