Just had a trader request to back out of a trade after it has been accepted. I poked around and can't find any way to "disolve" the open trade. Am i missing something? Is it just stuck as open until feedback is left?

Just ignore it, it'll go away after 60 or 90 days.

as long as no one has left feedback. If 1 person did then it will not go away, until we have a way to look at how we would do that, but there is no solution now.

What was their reason for backing out?

Yea I was trying to figure out how to cancel a trade to. Had a guy back out because he said he decided the beers I was trading weren't worth enough for his bottle. Sucks since addresses were already exchanged and I had went and bought the two bottles he wanted.

I had a guy that was supposed to be trading me 2 Vanillas, We exchanged addresses and everything and then he "Got Drunk and drank both of them" on NYE.

    What a douche.

LOL, bet he shopped a better offer vs drank two bottles, still not nice either way, agree to a trade it's pulled out of the rotation and it's virtually gone.

He actually said he was going to send on Tuesday then went MIA for a couple days and hit me up yesterday and gave me his story.

So technically I could of sent my box and then got the excuse.

I think some of these where people back out after the trade is accepted are worthy of neutral feedback...maybe I'm wrong but I'd want to know if I was dealing with someone who does this type of thing.

I would take it a step further and say they are deserving of bad feedback. They accepted the deal and backed out, to me that is a bad trader.

It at least needs to be documented whether it is nuteral or negative. There isn't any real lose, but if it happens frequently, I wouldn't want to trade with them.

IMO, you should leave neutral feedback and *explain why. These "value shoppers" after agreement need to be documented so that those who remember what this is all about can be forewarned. Thanks

*No need to worry about retaliatory feedback because they will be banned.

Not quite the same, but is there a way to delete an open trade after I have left feedback? I left feedback for a trade done a long time ago and the other party never left feedback. I messaged him and no response. Not a big deal it just bugs me seeing I have open feedback every time I look at my trades.

This is what they currently have no solution for. As of now, it will remain open indefinitely.

There was a time when both of these would have been considered Bad Traders, because it was accepted practice that once addresses were exchanged, the deal was consummated, and the community would have held the traders to these deals. Now its like the Wild West sometimes, and as long as people don't "officially" accept a trade through the system, they can do whatever they want with little/no consequence.

Thank goodness I don't trade on the open market any more. I'm grumpy enough as it is.

I've had this a couple of times. I laugh at the reasons I get. "Sorry, dude... I dropped the bottle while packing it". Or, "when I went to pack it, it turns out I really don't have one, sorry". Really?

I'm willing to bet it was the 'ol cold feet thing.

Dang.. I guess it's not a huge deal just a minor annoyance. Follow up question, can I delete feedback I left for him? Kind of unfair that he gets good rep from me and I get diddly.

It appears you cannot delete it, but you can Edit it. If you go to your trades: http://www.beeradvocate.com/user/trades/?ba=hopswap1 next to Your: Feedback(XX) there is a "Sent" link to click on. From there, you can find the trader and edit to change your rating.
