So do we have a "rocket scientist" in our group now? We have a couple smart asses already so a legit smart guy would really round out the group.

I'm having some friends over tomorrow for a bottle share. They all really like craft beer but aren't at the same level of geeky ness as we are on here. The beers will mostly be IPA, stouts and porters with maybe a Saison and Sour thrown in there. I'm deciding on the lineup right now. Is there a certain order of style you guys usually go with at your tastings? Just looking for a little insight.

In general go light to dark, so saisons and sours at the beginning, then porters/smoked/belgians, then stouts. save the IPAs for palette cleansers, especially in between stouts. Stouts have a way of all tasting the same after 3 or 4, so an IPA at that point is invaluable. Biggest suggestion though is to have a TON of water, and some snacks, on hand.

I'm also doing (along with @PA-Michigander and @jdhowe) a bottleshare tomorrow, with the SWTFYW guys... my liver is not going to forgive me for a long time.

Get 'em drunk on all the cheap stuff first, then pound away on the whales all by yourself.

Exactly how much experience do you have with whale vaginas?

Nugget nectar comes out in 10 days, but it sounds like the cans will only be available in 4 packs vs the bottles which will be available by the case (and 6 packs). A bummer as I was hoping to get a case of cans to enjoy many myself, ship a few easily and also be able to transport them more easily to friends places. Oh well, guess bottles it is.

That said (damn BA app not having edit), if anyone wants some (bottles or cans) let me know. I can make sure I have anyone covered, though I can't make crazy boxes financially right now, it'd basically be a #pickitupformebro

I can't argue with that though, 4 pint cans is 64oz vs 6 would be 96oz, compared to 72oz in a sixer of bottles; the 4pk is much closer in volume. I'm sure cases of cans will be available somehow.

Yeah the 4 pack cans is fine, was just hoping cases would be available haha, though I'm sure I could just get 6 x 4 packs for close to the same price it would be anyway

Probably, but I'm not sure cases of cans will be that hard to find; can you tell me more about them being "unavailable"?

I believe I was ninja'd. And I think based on the beers that were in this box and the fact that I LIF'd this individual some HF ...

but I believe @treznor dropped this bomb straight from the dojo!

I have the same question - is the run of cans really small?

I did this recently with some friends and I would agree with @Lehighace06 . Light to dark. For IPAs, I would avoid hop bombs. Something like Two Hearted works well. I know that as we moved along, I put BA stouts at the end and people loved to be able to make the difference between a regular stout and a BA version.

It was still 1/1/15 here when I posted that, so it counts! (right?)
