I know that I can be a little (ok, a lot) anal when it comes to drinking my beer, but I have a big pet peeve that I'm wondering if it's just me or does anyone else have this rule? When in my house, a beer glass is used ONLY for beer, not milk, not whiskey, or orange juice. I have a separate cabinet with different types of glasses for different types of beer only, yet I've had guests use my glasses for other than beer. When I say that's a no-no, I get "the look" and told to lighten up. Am I wrong? Or is it just me?

Depends on how well you clean them. A beer clean glass does make beer taste and look better but when you boil it down its just beer and its just a vessel to hold and drink liquids from. Id probably laugh at someone for drinking OJ out of a tulip.
Keep them clean and you are all good.

My roommate often borrows my beer glasses for various purposes; it's a bit annoying, but I don't really mind as long as I don't need it at the time and he cleans them when he's done.

I'm kind of the same way -- beer glasses for beer only. Never have a problem with it though, we don't have a ton of guests and my wife always leaves my glasses alone.

I don't use my beer glasses for anything other than beer as well.
I keep them in our China cabinet and would find it odd if someone took the keys, unlocked it and took one of those glasses out to use for something other than beer. And perhaps maybe a little disrespectful; but that's just me.

My beer glasses as well are for beer only, can't imagine my wife putting milk in my Bourbon County glass.

I don't think that anyone can unequivocally say that you're wrong, but someone pouring OJ into one of my beer glasses is not something that I would register as a problem.

You're just an ass. Just kidding, I don't have any rules like that, I just make it difficult for my short wife to gain access to my beer glasses. Almost all of them are out in the garage by the beer fridge and kegerator, so she's not gonna walk out there to get a glass. The ones inside are on a cabinet shelf she can't reach. OTOH our pint glasses for water or milk and all of her wine glasses are easy for her to get to.

Sorry. As anal as it may sound, my beer glasses are for beer and beer only. I keep them segregated in a cabinet above the little "beer corner" of our kitchen. It's really the only thing I am picky about. It's my hobby and my girlfriend totally respects that.

I keep my glasses above the cabinet and at 6' 3" and I can barely reach them. When someone asks for water I just say there's glasses IN the cabinet. It's never been an issue.

I use mine to drink water each day. Figure may as well get as much use out of them as I can since I have quite a few.

I only use my glasses for beer, but my 10 year old son frequently uses my tasting glasses and mini snifters for other beverages. He's careful and hasn't broken any yet. I can't really blame him for liking the shapes and how beverages look inside them, that's part of why I enjoy them too!

I use my glasses for a variety of things, snifters/tulips for wine or pint/weizen glasses for milk and iced tea. Depending on if the person is a friend or not, if not and they give me shit for using the wrong glass, I would probably "accidentally" bump into someone, "accidentally" drop it and smile as it shattered on the floor. You can request that people use certain glasses or have them already set out, but if you start being a prick about what glasses people are allowed to use and what to use them for just be prepared for some backlash in one a way or another.

We are twin sons of different mothers. Separate cabinet and everything. So it's not just you. In fact, I'm worse than you. When I go to someone's house who doesn't like the same beer I do, not only do I bring beer, but I bring a glass or two. I also keep a glass at my sister-in-law's house just in case I forget one. The difference between us is, pretty much everybody I know already knows I'm a nut when it comes to beer glassware so they don't even go near my glass cabinet. And if I got "the look" I'd give them one right back. It's my house.

Use all except the really fragile ones for other stuff. No biggie.

I prefer that my glasses be used only for beer, but with teenagers in the house all bets are off. I do have a tulip glass specifically for beer though.
