We got a fresh 6" of snow up here in Maine today. There is something about shoveling snow and coming back inside for a beer that is amazing - one of my favorite combos! Today it is fresh Bissell Brothers Swish DIPA - Boom!

I like the idea of getting exercise, being productive AND drinking beer... That is a win, win, win.

What other productive activities do people enjoy with beer?

    Have a great Sunday BA's!

First off wife and I own Subaru's so won't shovel/snowblow for less than 8 ".
During our 7 feet of snow storm in Buffalo I was caught without beers in fridge. Had to resort the first night after 16 hours of shoveling to cellar. Oak aged Yeti. Second day there was still driving ban so I snowshoed to nearest gas station. Only to find Coors light and Bud light lime left. Chose the Bud light lime....ugh.
    Lawnmower beer is always good.
With things on the smoker ( venison, wings, beer can chicken etc) it's imparitive you drink a beer or three. Did a brisket once, decided after the fact that 8 hours on the smoker was a lot of drinking. Can't wait to do that again:slight_smile:

Honestly, the last thing I normally want after shoveling is a cold (or cool) beer - I normally prefer hot coffee or cocoa. Later on in the day though...

For me, I have a couple favorite beer times:

    1. Getting in after hunting and having a nice stout by the fire.
    2. After (or during) fly fishing.
    3. Camping, backpacking, or having a fire out back (I'm in the pine barrens)
    4. On a canoe or any boat
    5. After snowboarding, snowshoeing, or any snow activity.
    6. Using the smoker
    7. Out on a day or night quad trip.

    Breathing. LOL.

Do enjoy a craft brew after shoveling.
Crack one open when trimming the tree and wrapping presents.
After a round of golf, if not while playing too.
    Love a draft when bowling.
Hmmm maybe have one while putting the Christmas stuff away.
Many more but those are what came to mind.
    Cheers!

We use tractors and pick ups with blades around here, so not such a good idea. But afterwards by the fire?

I shoveled out about 4 inches of wet, sticky snow today. Usually I drink water after that but I don't mind cracking open a beer after I replenish the water in my system

I used to love a cigar while shoveling, nothing like heavy breathing with a cigar dangling your mouth, I quit this summer should make for an interesting winter.

I always run on Saturday mornings before the sun rises, and have developed the habit of drinking a beer afterward as a reward. But yes -- snow shoveling definitely requires some beer therapy as a reward.

If I lived in Maine I'd buy a snow blower, I like shoveling a foot of snow like I like cutting an acre of grass in 100 degree temps. Screw that shit, it's why I live in a Town house.

Taking a break from raking for a sip of a nice barleywine is one of my favorite parts of fall.

Just curious but how common is snowshoeing as an activity? I'd certainly enjoy a beer after that but I don't recall a time when I would participate in the first place.

Thats a good call gQQgsJr - I snowshoe a handful of times a year with the family and a beer after that is always a nice choice!

Even though the cold really doesn't bother me all that much, having to shovel snow (or just the idea of it) is one of the main reasons I will never move further north. As for drinking beer after shoveling, I would much prefer a couple cups of dark roast coffee with some Baileys and save the beer till late in the evening.

I'm an avid atver and love enjoying a couple beers after riding hard all day!
Also after mountain biking and I have been putting roofs on my whole life so after a long day of roofing nothing tastes better then a beer:slight_smile:

If you enjoy hiking you will love snowshoeing. We love to ski and hike so snowshoeing is one of our favorite activities. The woods is so beautiful in the winter. Luckily we travel to VT a lot so get to do it. If you get a chance you can rent snowshoes cheaply and try it out.

I live on a court. Last year my buddy and I had a few beers during a big snow storm. We ended up shoveling and snowblowing every driveway on the court. Fun times.

The only time I enjoy a beer more than after snow shoveling is after a Saturday shift at work. Today, I'll be taking out a small flask of bourbon to shovel mine and my neighbor's driveway and sidewalk, and I'll follow it up with a pairing of Sweetgrass and football. That beer will be so goddamn good!
