I thought about trying this on New Years Eve, but tackled a 14% Parabola instead.

What a great memory! For the 12 days of Christmas BIF @kgncfl sent me a KRE and @Dave_Treat sent me a Black Tuesday for the same day. I solo domed the KRE back to back with the BT. I finished them but was hurting that night and well into the next morning.

Been there done that, did not feel at all wise the next morning. Not hung, bit still working out the kinks. I am in the same position as you, with no bottle share opportunities. Plan for the next day being sedate and enjoy a lovely beer. Oh, and uh, take your insulin shot. High ABV, but awfully sweet. Could stand up to a decade in the cellar I think.

Don't share it. Drink it over the course of 2 hours and pre-game with a shot of Makers.

It's like Denis Leary said about NyQuil....don't make any fuckin' plans....

At the BT party in 2013 i had two tickets and my + 1 didn't make it
I was expecting them to refund my money but instead they said .."well i guess you get to drink for two tonight" or something like that.
I drank many of those pours myself.
I estimated i drank 40 oz of BT and variants in 2.5 hours (and probably almost a gallon of water) oh and there was unlimited Hottenroth so....
    it was an interesting night..

I vaguely remember the IPAs at Noble afterwards
I dont remember the beers my buddy opened at my hotel room much later....

    Dont even consider driving.

But also a beer like that will be fine the next day with a bottle stopper.
Hell it'll probably last a week in your fridge.

Worst case scenario make a sauce for some dinner from it.

I have a Hoarders membership so I wind up drinking a lot of Bruery beers. Problem with that is that a lot of them are 10%+ ABV. I bought one of these champagne stoppers and it's made things a lot more enjoyable. Carbonation will last a while and works with most 750ml bottles of that size. I'd say grab one of these and drink that beer over the course of a couple days.

this. these days i never drink anything close to that amount, but it's not half bad to solo a high abv 750ml if you space it out for hours. pretty good time too.

edit: have done this with bruery cuir, for example. a few bruery beers. p.s. the bruery is awesome.

edit2: and yeah, i've resealed numerous big stouts with a bottle stopper. works great.

I drank a BT solo over the course of 5 hours or so. I was drinking heavily daily then though. It wasn't too bad.

It is less than the equivalent of a pint of whiskey. Man up.

Or you guys can just buy the Bruery bottle stopper they sell on their website, which costs about $5 and will seal the bottle for a day or two with little loss of carbonation and instead of killing a BT in one night, you can drink it over two nights?

I actually like the way big beers open up the following day. Especially the bruery anniversary ales, allowing a bit of oxygen makes some great changes

I've done it with wineification, blue balls, cr, tweak, and deal with the devil with fantastic results

No problem. Have done it quite a few times now. I tend to open it in the afternoon, break over dinner, then finish in the evening. I'll re-cork it and put it in the fridge sometimes as I go.

Once you do it once, you'll wonder why you were so worried.

Many on this site have taken back a 26oz of hard liquor in a day I'm sure, I'm sure some have killed a 40oz and at least one a 60oz.
    I think you'll be fine.

OP, what I would try is drinking a 12oz. of similar beer (i.e. Uncle Jacobs) within, say... 30-min time frame. If I'm too buzzed from this, I would put off on drinking entire BT, unless it was milked for more than 2 hours.

And always remember, water and pizza rolls are your friends!

    I don't understand the question.

JK, drink what you can, pour the rest out for your fallen homies.

The alcohol's not the problem (it's only a bit more than a single strong bottle of red wine)

The sweetness is, or at least would be for me

    But each to their own

No problem putting a Rum barrel BT away myself, but Chocolate Rain...that's a task, much like eating an entire double chocolate cake in one sitting.

Solo'd a BT one night pretty quickly, and passed out with ~2 oz left in the snifter. I'd like to think that I drank the rest when I woke up. "Split" a CR with my bro, meaning 90/10 me. We had already drank a bunch beforehand...owie.
