Checking out the OSU v Oregon game on the 12th. Any recommendations on bottles shops? Of course I would like to land some more rare Jester King, Prairie Bomb stuff, etc.....If I recall nothing crazy good in that part of the state brewery wise. Cheers!!!
You won't find any rare JK on the shelves. I'd recommend setting up a trade for that. You might find Prairie Bomb and Xmas Bomb around on shelves. Community's Barrel Aged Legion is reportedly very good and might be around still, but I haven't had it yet. Where in Dallas are you staying? As for shops, Lone Star in Carrollton, Hall's in Colleyville, and pretty much all the Specs, Total Wine, Whole Foods and Central Market locations will have solid selections.
@Heretic42 gave you great advice. Just a couple of additions: I loved BA Legion, but it may be too late to get in stores. If you like the style, give the brewery a call, they may have it at least on tap. BBA Lakewood Temptress also came out recently, but you may find it at the brewery or on tap.
Jester King is nearly impossible to get even in my hometown of Austin. For a trading partner, I only found "Prince" in the bottle shops and had to run down to the brewery to get the rest. When in Dallas, I always hit the Total Wine store. I've had great luck at the Whole Food north, near Allendale. In my opinion, there are some great local breweries in Dallas. I wouldn't judge any city based upon "the last time I was there" anymore. Everyone is opening new breweries and trying new things. What's that brewery on the southside, over the big, weird bridge. They have a rooster for a trademark? I love that stuff and spent some good time in their tap room.
Also Kegs and Barrels in Plano usually has a good spread. As for breweries in/around Dallas, no we don't have JK, but I would argue that we have some pretty solid offerings.
I'm not sure telling a region they don't really have any good breweries and you are only looking for out of market limited beers that don't sit on shelves is the best way to get good advice. Best of luck though homie.
Community has BA Legion on tap. Will also be releasing the 2nd batch soon, maybe by the 12th...maybe. Check out Goody Goody on Oak Lawn- don't look on shelves, ask what they have in the back. Or bottle shop on greenville (awesome spot).
Lone Star Beverages always has a good selection and usually some Prairie. But rare beer is hard to find. Try Temptress variations while you are here if you can and the BA Legion.
Sweet...enjoy the game. I'm heading to JK tomorrow and would buy out everything they have for you if you give me your ticket! Go Bucks!
JK Ambree should be making it's way around town this week so maybe you will get lucky...some Snorkel batch 2 might be lying around
Distributor sales rep. Not sure how limited the cases were that made it to DFW but I would expect the usual places you might find JK to receive it.
