I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a bottle stopper to store opened beer. In my experience a lot of those stoppers where you push down the lever and they expand are too small to seal a 12 oz bottle when it is completely expanded. Right now I only have one that works well, but I would like to pick up a few more. Also, would like it to seal 12 oz, 22 oz and 750ml bottles.

I have a cork from a cork and caged bottle. Sharpened the point a bit with a knife so it easily slips back in bottles till it hits the untrimmed part and then fits tightly. It provides enough closure that the carbonation is usually fine for the next day or so. Haven't tried keeping a bottle longer than that.

I have some Food Network wine/champagne stoppers I bought a few years ago. They screw on so they expand to form a seal inside the neck of the bottle.

It was a gift several years ago, and there is no brand or anything on the stopper itself.

I made my first homebrew a few months ago, so naturally i bought a bottle-capper and bottle caps.

So what i do is just recap a beer i know i wont finish right after i pour my glass and put it back in the fridge. Now i know since all of the initial carbonation has been released it wont stay good long, so i make sure to drink it within the next day or 2.

I usually have wine stoppers like this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JBMY57M?psc=1

which I have acquired from time to time, however even those will pop out with the pressure in my experience. Also don't use a vacu-vin cause that wont make a tight enough seal.

If you really need to do this I would suggest wing capping it again, or just do the old jam a cork in the bottle again.

I've used them in bombers, 750s, 12oz with no problems. I actually have a habit of using them whilst drinking a large format of a strong beer if I'm doing it solo to keep the carbonation. This is probably overkill, but I'm ok with that. If you have any big wine stores locally, they'll definitely have them. Might save a few $ on shipping.

I made this same thread a few months ago and ended up getting these:
They work great, I reccomend. Although if you have an extremely carbonated beer, they can pop off after a day or two.

Going to order this tonight...I drink too many BA Stouts in bombers or 750's that I can't finish alone.
