It's a really interesting subject to me. One would think that if you only have one good brewery nearby that's where the people would trade away all the good stuff to try the things from other parts of country, but here in CA we have so many many option, do we really need to try everything else? I'm not blaming anyone, I'm part of the "problem" myself, since I couldn't live without trying the new Prop or any other BCBS variant etc...it's just really fascinating that mostly people from CA have no problems giving away outstanding beer and therefore lowering its trade value very quickly...

 

Hmm, those trades, I wonder how many would go through. I was just going to drink my 4 bottles.

Random releases prevent beer mules from cornering the entire supply (ahem... Prop).

I got 2 so I'm happy.

 

That is why I use my live-in mule to double my bottles. =)

Sadly as payment I usually have to share with her.

The other option would be they release it when I'm at work and I can't get it.
Or by the time I get there there are so many people that have got in line and then changed their shirt or rubbed the stamp off their hand (FfaC) that they have a case per person and it sells out early.
Then I see it on shelves at certain bottle shops in SD for $80+/bottle.
This makes it fair so anyone that can pick their bottles up gets 2.
No way to get a case unless you have lots of mules. No way to stop mules either so it is what it is.
I think BPT and the way the Barrelworks releases are, are the best.

 

Yeah the trade forums are bonkers right now. I was able to get 2 bottles. Sending one to a trading partner.

 

I can't imagine getting only two and trading one away.

 

I hear ya. Haply to help out a regular trading partner who has done the same for me for the last 2 years though so it's no big deal to me.

I could maybe see getting two, drinking one, deciding it's only so-so, and then deciding to trade the second away but having never even tried it before and it being (likely) quite rare and setting up a trade before even tasting it? NOPE! Then again, I don't really trade so maybe I just don't understand the trader mentality.
