They can't please everyone. Everyone claims to be a loyal fan, but I bet if they appeased the loyal fans, you'd still see the same FT threads. People just like to complain when they miss out. It happens.

The way Alpine released this beer actually help counter the use of mules better than any other method.

I wish there was some kind of advance notice, I heard about it after it was sold out.

I checked throughout the day and I didn't see any come up for sale.

Yup, a little bummed out, been waiting for this release.

These bottles are probably the reversed orders for people who tried to beat the system in some way.

Waiting in line over night is a mule magnet. I just happened to check my Facebook on my break at work. Got lucky and bought two bottles.... but the mules calling other mules... pot calling the kettle black? The butt hurt is strong in here.

How to you suggest that they should have released instead? 2 bottle limit, no proxies, short pick up time, no warning, hmm doesn't say muleing to me (perhaps you define it differently). A lot of luck to get bottles - yes. There is no way to satisfy everyone with a beer release. I am going to guess that more locals got this than anybody else. Also I am not sure that alpine would agree with your statement that they were bought by GF.

Willing to bet that the worst offenders knew this was coming and have enough contacts to nit rely on announcements like the rest of us.

Oddly every single person who i would place into the "mule" catgory i see on social media seemed to have no problem purchasing this release....guess they were privvy to some advance warning the rest of us werent so lucky to have...

It's all a conspiracy!! All of us who got bottles got advanced warning from Alpine to screw over loyal customers. Give me a break. For Christ sakes. There's like 5 or 6 ridiculous FT threads. Give it a rest.

Considering only a few hundred people likely got this beer, the dozen or so ft threads puts the % being traded pretty high....

I don't understand your logic. This way is the best way possible to stop mules. (which is probably why Pat is now doing it)
Any other way gives the people time to gather mules regardless if its line up overnight like Russian River or if it's to announce the on sale date and time way ahead of time like Firestone Barrelworks and many others now do.
If you would of set the Alpine Facebook page to notify you when they post, you probably would of got bottles and not created this additional thread that is in addition to the last additional kiwi herman thread from today. Now there's 3 for this beer.

I've had the pleasure of trying a couple alpine beers, and for them to "share the wealth"? Really? Send some here to AZ. I loved duet and captain stout and would like to try more. I see what your saying but your not the only one who likes this beer. Cheers and lets set up a trade can you get Odell or founder's?

Or could it be a fact that someone who would buy this beer is already aware of it because they come on beer advocate?? I'm betting 80% of the people who bought it are active on this site, so it's not surprising that you'd see a lot up on FT. Holy crap. Beer enthusiasts complaining about other beer enthusiasts. I got lucky getting bottles, unfortunately you didnt. Nobody is out to screw you.

SARA takes it once step further...no bpt. Is that what you want? No to little warning and you have to drive and buy it the day of before it sells out? This way actually gives more people a chance while cutting down on mules.

I mean imagine if they had announced this ahead of time like Lost Abbey did with the Veritas 14 release. Everyone knew about that release and were at their computers waiting for that release which sold out in 30 seconds! At least this bottle release lasted about 8 minutes which is considered a long time these days for BPT releases especially for a release of this nature. We all knew Kiwi Herman was coming out and we even knew the name. It was just that nobody knew when and the answer I always heard was Kiwi Herman would come out sometime soon or probably beginning of this year. Honestly I got lucky I had friends who texted me about this right when the link came up and I was able to secure bottles. I always figured when this release came up that it would be a brewery release only like Chez Monus and it would probably be released on a weekday and I'd be stuck up here in LA at work and would miss out. Fortunately I'm glad Alpine released Kiwi Herman on BPT and I think that's the fairest way possible. There's no line cutting possible, you can't buy multiple bottles under the same name, and you're assured bottles once you make the purchase online. People are always going to find a way to mule and that's just the way the beer scene is now and we only have ourselves to blame. You can't win them all!

How exactly would "mules" have advance notice? They know somebody at Alpine? Well either way they would be "hooked up" and that's part of the business. Now stop blaming bad luck on other people. It's not like 1 person could get 70 bottles (Masterpiece).

Yea it wasn't a secret, the only surprise for me was that it was BPT cuz the guys at alpine said the expo release was a pain in the ass with them...

Honestly, in response to some comments above if this was Alpine's way to best thwart mules and so forth then cool.

It just seemed like every hoarder/mule managed to snag some and I def wasn't the only person who missed out and noticed how silly it got on BA. My main goal is to try it (draft or bottle) and ill certainly make an effort not to miss that. O well can't win them all....
