where does it say that? I saw the post about "south bay DBs" but it doesn't say anything about getting rid of their bottles.

If I was a local this scenario would really piss me off.

The constraint on out of town people is sort of the point.

And there's no way the breweries eat anything on the no shows. Those bottles get sold some way or another.

to be clear, when I say eat, I mean they take the money from the no shows and then sell the bottles as well. So 2x the money!

Just putting this out there in response to the fact that some people bought tickets between 12pm & 1pm, before Alpine announced it. Hear me out:

So I know that something similar happened with the recent KRBC lottery on BPT. Someone posted that the lottery had started on the BA well before KRBC announced. The owner, Eric, chimed right in and asked "How did you know"?? The BA responded by saying something to the effect that since he had been "local event", he he got notified of the events. Since KRBC set up the lottery before making the announcement, people knew

SO, since Alpine previously used BPT to sell Expo, maybe some people chose to get future alerts also. Alpine listed the event at 12pm and failed to recognize it was live. These people got the alert, let their friends know, and all the while Alpine wasn't going to make the announcement until 1pm via facebook. Seems very plausible.

Edit: It was because the BA requested to be alerted of "new local events" that he knew the lottery was happening. See below.

Don't bring logic in here please. We all know the mules hacked BPT.

This is a no win situation for Alpine IMO. BPT is the most fair way to do ltd. releases hands down. Everyone had a chance to snag bottles yesterday, 30 seconds or 30 minutes...everyone had a shot. I don't live anywhere near the brewery and have no way of picking up bottles so i didn't try and snag any. If they release them on site yesterday who has a better chance of mobilizing mules, the local SD BA or the craft gurus who run websites & livelihood depends on this hobby?

As far as trading or bottle limits, why do you guys have a problem with people getting 4 bottles or trades. I grew up in another part of the country and love shipping beer to friends they will enjoy. Without trade partners most of us would have never had the opportunity to try HF, FFF, BCBS Prop, JK fruits, etc. etc...hell even myself and that lovely beer know as Nelson. When the next bath of Beat is released I can guarantee some will be shipped by me to NYC, OH, probably SD & TX without trying to "win" anything in return...does that make me less of a BA?

Remember in 2 weeks a shiny new sour or BA stout will replace KwH hysteria, the vicious cycle of whale hunting

I find this quite entertaining, and comforting that Texas traders are not as bad as I thought, south Cali got that cornered.

I still feel the market will regulate itself, if someone wants a damn kiwi strawberry sour bad enough, it's on them to send a KBBS to get it. That first wave of FT posts were sad, and it likely sabotaged any serious trade market this bottle will ever have. See Eclipse Masterpiece.

Not sure what time it appeared on BPT or if there's a way to find this out but Alpine posted it at 1:07pm and it was sold out at 1:31. However people were still buying it for hours and hours after it sold out because it was being released from people's carts.

Highly doubt this is the case. It may not be Chez Pt. II, but, for a variety of reasons, the Alpine and Eclipse releases are two different animals, IMO. (some) Folks' hides may be chapped for now, but they'll eventually get over it and get back to clamoring for it. Time will tell, though, I suppose.
