why did this beer reach rock star status in the trade forum so quickly? Has it been available before and consuming it provides some type of euphoric experience? Or is it simply because it's Alpine and has a cool name? I don't typically follow sours but do like to keep up with the times. Thanks

Every time a new "it" beer gets released, every region's respective trade winners get their chance to tarnish a whole region's reputation. It's the nature of the beast. I mean, aren't people still holding that super rare bottle count Vanilla Rye hostage???...

There is no geographic champion for doosh beer traders. I've been really fortunate to trade with some classy people in Texas, Chicago, Portland, etc... and have encountered some real, um, suspect cats from the same regions; and the same goes for here in Cali. No region is better, no region is worse.

Chez was the last beer that made me pee a little right when I tasted it.

Lottery style BPT, pick up in person with I.D. This I feel would be the fairest.

Checked the fridge and holy balls it is the Monus.

I guess @reidjoshua 's bottle share just got a little more exciting. Now to hope that work gives me the day off so I can attend.

Did you really not know you had a Chez? You did get called out for hot dogging so I'm curious. The anticipation is dreadful.

When you get down to a sale that lasts less than 10 minutes, you are getting awfully close to it being a lottery. LOL

Tangerang did that for me, also the last batch of Nelson. I would have to wear depends if i lived in SD.

The perfect beer release is 100 bottles of the best beer ever made and only you and your closest friends get invited to split them for $10 a 750.

As far as the best release options are... BPT with a lottery up front seems about as perfectly fair as possible. I know both Black Tuesday and Kern Citra are done this way.

I dig that option, though it's worth saying that it would do nothing to appease the locals, who are almost certain to lose out even more than with a ninja release, since the volume of non-local folks able to sign up for the lottery would be massive.

Just keep a really tight pickup window and require ID's. Esp for Alpine, if you make a 5-7 day window the vast majority of nonlocals wouldn't be able to swing it.

Hmmm, maybe you're right, though I tend to think you underestimate the tenacity of the SD mule network.
