    Hey guys,
I was hoping someone could lend some insight. I went to send 2 separate beer mails this afternoon through the USPS. I was sending them certified so I could obtain a tracking number and was asked the content. After explaining it was beer the USPS informed me that it was illegal to ship alcohol through mail and if there was any method possible it must be air, they did not offer this. I then called both UPS and FedEx and they explain it was illegal without a license and homeland security would prosecute if a bottle was to break and the contents were discovered. Is this just NY? I can't see risking prosecution for shipping beer.

    Thanks fellas,
    Josh

You can't ship beer, which is why you call it olive oil. Most of the time they don't ask what's in the package.

I don't know why you're asking this question on this website. None of us ship beer, ever. We ship lots of olive oil, vinegar, and yeast samples, but we don't ship beer. I think you should ask your question somewhere else.

My UPS guy asked for a bottle of my homemade NC BBQ sauce...........I switched to Fedex. NEVER use USPS unless it is an international trade that you are shipping.

Go to trading forums, where this thread will soon reside, and you can find answers to any shipping question you have.

My UPS and Fed Ex never ask. USPS does, so I don't use them as much. If someone does ask, say collectible bottles, marinades, homemade salsa, etc. Just keep them from breaking, but more importantly, from leaking.

Holy crap, I honestly had no idea that you can't ship alcohol. Glad I read this thread!

(also the different things people claim to be shipping are hilarious)

I have stuff shipped to me once every two or three months for at least 4 years and it is never any hassle with either UPS or Fed Ex. You may need someone over 21 to sign for it.
