I don't know how they do things in Wisconsin but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Guys why would you waste your time at DLD? Don't you know FFF is overrated, with their overpriced beers. They have notoriously bad service. Zombie Dust obviously doesn't taste the same. DL is a sugar BOMB! Did I mention the awful service?! I'm actually just kidding, I just wanted to mock the FFF trolls. I will see you all there to celebrate the day of The Lord.

Hampton Inn is totally booked already. Wonder how long ago that happened.

I read last year that the Hampton inn books up before tickets go on sale, then as people don't get their tickets, it opens up. I can not vouch for the validity of this info, but it may be worth checking them later.

Hampton Inn bottle share in 2014 was incredible! There's a waiting list for rooms which will hopefully free up after tickets go on sale. As a consolation, my group has a backup room booked at the Comfort Inn in Scherervile. It's also close enough for a cab/shuttle.

I hope to be going for the first time this year. If I stay in Chicago, what are my transportation options? I believe I saw there was a charter bus in previous years thread.

I believe there are a few different places all over the city that offer a bus to DLD. I know the Beer Temple had one last year, as did Reggie's, and there are probably a couple more. You'll have to wait until it's a little closer to DLD to accurate info, though.

I'm amused to see so many people have pictures of a travesty with some of my lost bottles at DLD. It will live on in infamy, I suppose.

Just to add a footnote of context - The friend next to me who dropped them felt really crappy about it the whole rest of the day and kept apologizing profusely whenever it was brought up. I told him it was completely fine, accidents happen and proceeded to share more cellar beers, because that's what you do when bad things happen. You mourn the departed and go on living. Those Dark Lords would've wanted it that way.

Plus, he got a Golden Ticket, so really, how made could I be?

Those were the biggest letdown of the day for me. Cold and dry from all that wind blowing around. Bleh.

Thanks so much for answering all of my questions, Drunk Al. I hope to get one of the tickets that'd allow me to get Dark Lord, but I guess we'll see what happens. I sure suspect they probably sell really quick, if not sell out the same day the tickets first become available online?

Debating if I should still go down that day and get a GA ticket, worst comes to worse on the main DLD tickets(that'd allow someone to buy DL) selling out? I hadn't revisited FFF Munster brewpub for a few years, and wouldn't mind a revisit.

They typically sell out online in a few minutes, at best.

With GA you'll still get a good chance of sampling BVDL and stuff like that, since there's a crapload of beer flowing all day. Also, with all the bottle shares around, you probably wouldn't find it very hard to sample some whalez from random people's backpacks. While I will usually buy the standard DL tickets (I'd love to get a golden ticket one day, damnit), getting a general admission ticket isn't the worst thing in the world, since a good 90% of DLD has nothing to do with buying bottles of Dark Lord.

Protip - You don't need to go inside the gates to have a good time at DLD.
