I remember complaining about no hype, no trade bait and no rare beer from WA. I remember a few of you upset at me for suggesting such a thing. Well it's happened whether or not anyone wanted it. Sorry local-loving, line-hating, secrecy-loathing, hype-adverse and "don't talk about our good beer" fellows.

    "
The Heron Hunting Club is a long-standing, but shadowy tasting society of the finest and most rugged individuals. Members of the Heron Hunting Club must solemnly swear to devote themselves to the pursuit of the finest beers that ever were, to seek knowledge wherever it may be found, to use dispassionate logic and reason in the search for beer enlightenment, and to join fellow devotees as brothers and sisters to protect, serve, and uphold the principles of this society so long as it shall be.

Those granted membership will be initiated at Fremont Brewery on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 from 6-9pm. The evening will consist of twelve esoteric Fremont brews that rarely see the light of day and a few that never have, hearty delicacies formulated by the legendary Ethan Stowell, and a guided Bourbon Abominable vertical tasting led by Fremont Brewing’s highest ranking officials. Members will leave this sacred gathering not only having transcended the earthly bounds of taste, but also in possession of a members-only, hand-blended, aged beer pried from the depths of the Fremont cellars.

If you deem yourself worthy enough to join the illustrious ranks of the Heron Hunting Club, please meet us at the Fremont Troll on Thursday, January 22nd at 9pm to enroll.

Membership is $85 and limited to 75 people.

We look forward to taking you on a journey beyond the velvet curtain to reveal the dignified, hitherto undiscovered world that is The Heron Hunting Club."

While I'd be in for the event (time and budget allowing), that press release is, is, is, damn, I don't even have the words.:grimacing: Also not sure I'd wanna make two trips down, (the links just go to an error page) is there a way to sign up with driving down twice?

    It's a trap!!

Maybe it's a way to see who shows up and then blacklist them?

I know humor doesn't translate all that well sometimes on the internet, but seriously... that didn't seem like a pretty obvious attempt to be funny?

The entire post reads like it's at least half tongue in cheek.

i've had a cup of coffee now, and can confirm, it appears to be a joke. for what it's worth, i had slow morning courtesy of elysian.

Outside of the NW forum, it would not read as humor at all.

I did snort/chuckle at the "finest and most rugged individuals" bit.

So, Dan, you're saying there IS "rare " beer in WA?

...and by rugged...are you saying beards are mandatory?

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the intent was a press release. Flyers w/ barely any info and an email address were posted. I emailed and got back the information posted above. At 75 spots, I don't think Fremont wanted to create a ruckus.

But I do think lumbersexuals are moved to the top of the waiting list.

Rugged: broke(n), rocky, uneven- well that pretty much describes me. However, I took a vow to stop hunting heron years ago. Might have to pass on this one.

So now that this is posted we can change the meeting time at the Troll to 3pm and expect 100+ people to show? I agree that I don't think the point of this was to have the details posted publicly...
