Have you ever been embarrassed by a beer purchase?

So I went to the local grocery store today and grabbed a sixer of Rebel. Yeah, I know some of you think it sucks, but at $7, I'd rather have that than a BMC product. Anyway, there was a guy who picked up a pack of All Day right next to me. He looked at my selection, gave a smirk grin then left. I wanted to say, "Hey, I am a proponent of fine beer!" to him, but just left as well. So have any of you ever felt odd about a purchase? Like you were buying something you normally wouldn't get but felt like a BA had noticed you? Yes, it may not matter in the long run but for some reason, I felt like my entire venture into craft beer was for nothing. Maybe I'm making something out of nothing?

It's beer. I try not to take it too seriously. Don't feel bad about what you're drinking. As long as you're enjoying yourself, that's all you need to worry about.

Other than having to explain dropping $30 on an EC Eclipse to the wife...no, never been embarrassed by purchasing the beer I wanted to buy.

You could do far worse than Rebel IPA. Don't think I've ever felt embarrassed about a beer purchase, and I have bought some skanky stuff as gag gifts. Maybe I should have felt more shame, but I was quite proud.

When I first met my wife (then girlfriend) 6 years ago, she had me go to the grocery store to buy her Michelob Ultra. Upon arriving, i realized they had none on the shelf but there was a crate in the isle with some wrapped in plastic. I had to ask the sales clerk to open it up so I could buy it. It took him some effort and he asked, quite loudly, "You said the Michelob Ultra right??" Just FYI i have her drinking imperial IPA's and Red Ales now, I call that a victory!

I've never been embarrassed about a purchase during the fact, but after the fact there have been numerous times that I was embarrassed that I actually spent the money on what turned out to be truly terrible beers.

Thats another reason why I don't get Sam Adams - There's so many other beers I'd rather bring up to the counter.

I save and collect my bottles (empty), so there are certain breweries or lines that I will buy if I see in the interest of having a complete collection. Some could be considered embarrassing I suppose, but my collection is vast and I like having complete sets, so it doesn't really affect me too much. For example, Rogue is a favorite, and I have nearly a full collection of their offerings over the past five years, including the Voodoo Doughnut series.

On the flip side, I think that the guy who smirked at you is a pompous ass. Also, All Day is not a fine beer.

I've never been embarassed, but I did feel a little odd spending $30 on a few bottles as an older guy spent half that on a case of macro stuff.

Who gives a shit? Its just beer. Sounds like dude was probably a pompous ass who likes to sniff his own farts out of Riedel Sommelier glassware.

I would double down on the Rebel, and tell the guy to eat a fat one.

Maybe the guy was just grinning about a text he received from his wife. It might not be about YOU!
