I'm feeling great lately with the offerings from Sierra Nevada such as Hoppy Lager, Nooner Pils, and of course some old standby beers like Victory Prima Pils. Also I really enjoy Noble Pils. Many others worth mentioning but that's just what is in my fridge now.

Part of me wants to take the pulse of the active forum BA community on whether or not you would drink more American craft lagers, hoppy ones especially, if they were produced by more brewers - especially reputable brewers. Poll above. But please elaborate if you have a few comments to share.

I'm on board for these beers and will drink them regularly. Only caveat is I don't want any gimmicky ingredients, even fruit.

So go fill your stein and share your view. Thanks

Love me some. Would also like some malty ones or more bocks...

Never been a style I cared much for until I tried Founders Dissenter and realized I could love them when done in a certain way. So I would be happy to to have more out there to choose from. Jack Abby is one of the breweries I would most like to try.

Two other hoppy lagers that I would highly recommend:

    · Sixpoint Crisp

    · Firestone Walker Pivo Pils (particularly very fresh!)

    Cheers!

Great additions to the list! I was able to sample the Sixpoint on an east coast trip and enjoyed it a lot.

Yes, I would drink more. The Dissenter from Founders was tasty, and just about everything Jack's Abby makes in nothing short of fantastic.

I love a good hoppy lager. Full Sail just put one out simply labeled "Pilsner", which is their Cascade Pilsner (formerly limited release bombers and draft) that has been made part of their year-round line-up in 6 packs. Very good beer at an awesome value ($6.99 around here). This beer is 6% ABV and 60 IBU... Definitely leaning to "IPL"/hoppy lager territory.

My fridge presently contains Hoponius Union by Jack's Abby as well as Sierra Nevada's new Hoppy Lager and Nooner Pilsner, plus a lonesome bottle of Weihenstephaner Original helles and a couple of Pretty Things Bocky Bier bombers.

Yes, I'm up for good lagers, hoppy or otherwise.

I wish there were more lagers in general, but they're difficult to brew and with how bad a lot of new breweries are at other more simple styles where they can cover up flaws, I don't think they would be at all successful at lagers. I'd love more Czech pilsners, maybe from someone like Alesmith that excels at all styles.

I would love to see breweries make more lagers in general, I am not a huge fan of the IPL's but if done right I can enjoy them.

I've had a handful of pilsners that I've really enjoyed. All of the ones mentioned are great. Also enjoy Lagunitas Pils and Two Roads Ol' Factory.
I love a well-made IPL. So yes, if there were more I would drink them.

Jack's Abby has the IPL game down pat. Glorious, glorious hops mixed with pilsner malts. Yum, yum, yum.

I like lagers of all styles. I generally prefer the balance of traditional German lagers, but I also really enjoy their hoppy American brethren. I think after the wild/saison phase settles lagers will be the next setting of American innovation. Like wilds, it's unlikely that we will top the perfection of the country of origin, but I'll definitely still enjoy trying as many interesting variations on lager as possible.

Lots of great suggestions with Jack's Abbey, Firestone and Sixpoint.

'Fathom' made by Ballast Point is also pretty nice; it's hoppy, but not all fruit, which is interesting.

Only ones I have felt were truly game-changing were the Jack's Abby IPLs. Others strike me as simply lagers for hoppy ale lovers.
