have been trying to buy "newcastle brown" for the last 3 weeks in the golden horseshoe area Ontario"not available" this is the second time this has happened this year.Does anyone know why this is?
I don't live in the GTA, but according to the inventory count on the LCBO website (http://lcbo.ca/lcbo-ear/lcbo/product/details.do?language=EN&itemNumber=12047 - just click the Find Stores button) there is no shortage of Newcastle in Toronto. Of course, those are the 500 mL single cans, not the sixers. The 6-packs do seem to be in short supply though, as the only Toronto shop I see with any in stock is in Scarborough: http://lcbo.ca/lcbo-ear/lcbo/product/details.do?language=EN&itemNumber=615179
It's the beer gods speaking to you from the heavens. They're saying: "Cubby, we need to have a little talk... Don't you think it's time to spread your wings and try some tasty new brown ales, a nice dunkle or maybe even a delicate Vienna brewed by the hardworking brewers in your own back yard? We'll hold on to your ol' standby while you go forth and explore! Have fun, it'll be here waiting for you should you need it."
Sucks that you can't find what you want, but take the opportunity to try something new. Something you've never tried before, and looks kinda interesting.
I must be missing something here. According to the above LCBO link, for the cans, it appears Hamilton, Dundas, Ancaster and Stoney Creek all have tons. The Beer Store site shows at least a dozen stores in the Hamilton area that should carry it. I'm just taking Hamilton as perhaps the mid point of the Golden Horsehoe.
if you dig newcastle brown, you'd probably like amsterdam nut brown, it's nice and chocolatey and malty. I would recommend it to anyone in the toronto area.
