I just hope to god it's an improvement over last year. Cliche? Maybe, but I've been drinking Nugget Nectar for 7 years now and it just wasn't that good last year. Way maltier than in years' past. Really hope I can find the cans though.

Well I might buy a 4 pack of month+ old beer but No way am I going to buy a whole case of something that old unless it is stout or barley wine.

Anyone know if it will be released in the Ebensburg, Cresson, or Indiana, PA areas?

Keith, Kevin of TJs Everyday related to me that the keg they received last year for Nugget Nectar had a December date on the keg collar; it was tapped in January. He told me this with a look of disgust on his face. I agree 100% with your views on this distribution issue.

    Cheers!

I feel the same way. I bought a 6 pack of it and that was that. Way too malty. I feel like nugget nectar is ruined for me this year. I've had a lot of Modern Times Blazing Worlds that is hopped with simcoe, nelson, mosaic and it was based off nugget nectar and is so much better.

I wasn't referencing your comment. I understand where you are coming from. My comment was about those people, no one in particular, that get their panties in a bunch when a hoppy beer is more than 2 hours off the bottling belt. I put that comment in bold because people on this site seem to get so butt hurt over sarcastic comments way to often.

Referring to your comment about the brewery releasing kegs 6+ weeks after they are kegged/bottled, maybe you should consider the distribution aspect. Not every brewery distributes their beer by themselves and sometimes it is out of their control. So what, a beer is 6 weeks old? Is it the end of the world? No.

You can't always get a beer freshly off the bottling line, so take what you can get. If you don't like that it is not coming to you a day from bottling, go to the brewery. They aren't million dollar corporations, they have limitations.

@BoardwalkBock I guess we got spoiled for years getting Two Hearted within a week or two or bottling. Local brewery same day of same week was the norm. Hell even Founders used to get their beer to us within two weeks so I know it seems anal but once you taste fresh you don't go back. Good luck to those who think they can sustain on month old hoppy ales, it is a suckers market.

And I can't wait to get some Nugget Nectar tomorrow..

You know, I've never considered distribution, wow what a revelation.

I've had week old kegs of Smuttynose (regularly), week old cases of Two Hearted (as @FatBoyGotSwagger said) and week old cases of Green Flash (from the west coast even) not to mention I regularly see super fresh dated local beers all the time and you want to try to convince me that NN kegs from Troegs in Harrisburg PA (2 hours away from us) that hit the market already six weeks old is from distributorship pitfalls? Hardly. The path is simple. Troegs to Penn Distributors, to my local beer store, to me. That's a two week process, tops normally. Troegs sat on those kegs, that's a fact. I got the phone call the day they arrived at my beer store and I picked it up the next day. The reality is they kegged them beginning of December and sat on them until they decided to do their "market release" and that's a problem.

So a much as I love NN, I will continue to buy it and hope they get better at it. My issue here is that Troegs needs to be more aware of freshness and the massive market push for freshness and they need to do a better job. It's that simple.

Does that release info sound like cases of the 16 oz cans will be available at Troegs on Monday the 19th? I will probably head up for a case if so.

Bought a 12/24 case today. Kind of disappointed when I saw the date on the bottles but its tasting better than any from last year so It will be gone before it goes "sour" and I'll be stopping at the Brewery next week for some cans.
