    Good morning, BA!
    I'm working a few days of third shift this week, so after pulling an all-nighter this is my nightcap before heading to bed. I was waiting for a special occasion to open it and I think OSU's inaugural National Championship win is as good a reason as any.

    Went for The Abyss after a long Monday at work...

    What a difference a year makes. I found this 2013 bottle to be a little softer on the roasted coffee/liquorice flavors and more enjoyable then the bottle I drank fresh.

    I just bought a 2014 yesterday. I've heard mixed reviews, with most saying absolutely not to drink it fresh. Do you think I should save it for a year?

    Never mind the Odell howler, it's filled with Green Flash Soul Style. Very fruity - dat Simcoe! Tropical fruit and citrus zest with a nice and clean grassy finish. Beautiful lacing. The sheer number of IPAs like this* (along with the currently subzero weather) makes me wonder why I left San Diego eight years ago to move to Minnesota.

    *There are a number of great IPAs here in the Twin Cities, but San Diego it isn't.

    I loved the 2014 fresh, so I'd recommend drinking it now. In my opinion, aging a beer doesn't mean too much if you haven't tried it fresh because there is no basis for comparison.
