I had about 4 pours of Kiwi Herman yesterday and today I wish I would've gotten more. It's an awesome beer. Very balanced, considering they are using two fruits that are difficult to be successful with. Just on execution and complexity alone this beer deserves a high rating for nailing the landing. It's super easy to drink. Not acidic. Not plastic-y. No bandaid element you get with strawberry beers. It has the right parts of fresh strawberries and kiwis in a light way. If I wanted more fruit I should go get a juice box instead because I don't want a ton of fruit it my beer. The wine barrel aspect is beautiful. I believe they used Cakebread Pinot Gris barrels. Anyway, it's going to take a lot to pry my bottles away from me and if I ever share a bottle with you it's because you are a good friend. Having said that this is just one man's opinion.

I rated it 4.79 for all the reasons above and more. I gave Chez a 4.9 and DDG a 4.5. Cheers.

I went there yesterday around 9pm, of course Kiwi on tap was gone, but at least it was quite empty, so I could enjoy a day-old Nelson without any hassle.
Anyway, if this could be any help, I was told that today (Wednesday) there will be two kegs in the morning/early afternoon and one for the evening. And then two kegs each for both weekend days.

Sounds like a pretty awesome beer, with a flavor profile I'd enjoy. Too bad it got insta-whale status on BA, before I could even procure a bottle.

Just in case though, if any of you folks that got extra bottles, need to have a Westbrook 4th Anniv hair scratched, and other stuff, whatever it takes, let me know!

Kiwi Herman pouring now. BBA Odins Raven is pouring and Nelson is tasting phenomenal as always.

KW, to me, is really good. Big nose, I get a good amount of strawberry upfront, then tartness on the finish (green apple, cherries, I guess kiwi. I haven't had a kiwi in a long time haha). I didn't want to buy into the hype, but I'm glad I made the trek (25mi) to check it out today since it was done last night when I stopped by.

At 1215, it's not crowded and KW is pouring.

I kept seeing Untappd checkins of BA Odin's and wondered if it was just bottles being broken out of the cellars. Hope that lasts until Friday though!

I really hope the comparison to Sourrento is inaccurate. :-/

Why so concerned? If it isn't as great as everyone hoped, then so be it. You'll be right back where you were a week ago. With a plethora of beers that don't disappoint.

It's definitely better than Sourrento. That is a terrible comparison. Much more complex. Sourrento is a solid two flavor "pony". Kiwi Herman is comparable to higher end RR sour. Definitely better than some of the Almanac's I've had.

I think it will. When there I didn't see a stout on the table

Because I like beers to taste good. "So concerned" are your words.

It was an accurate interpretation with your "I really hope" and your "concerned" emoticon at the end. Or was it a sad face?

I feel like we are arguing about nothing. I don't think Sourrento is very good. I hope this tastes better. In fact, I hope any beer I taste is better than Sourrento. Consider my level of concern very low, but above nil.

Was there ever an official bottle count for this? I want to be accurate in my trade talks.

Stopped by again just now.... Keg tapped one guy in front of me... again... I was ready to burn the place down but luckily this time they just tapped another one. Appeared to be a 5 gallon keg, in case anyone is making their way down here.

Is it typical for special releases to bring out the hipster neckbeards in full force?? Haha... kidding
