What's a beer you had the first time and thought it was amazing, went a while, got excited. Bought it again, and you overrated it like crazy after trying other beers in between. Not nearly as good the second time

Xocoveza hasn't been quite as magical as the first bottle I had, neither on tap or from subsequent bottles. Not sure what to chalk it up to.

Ballast Point Victory at Sea. I purchased 4 bottles at once (all from the same batch/shipment) and the first was amazeballs. The other 3 were pure shit. Drainpours. What crap luck.

Sam Adams Thirteenth Hour. Had one about a year ago and I was in love with it. I looked and looked and couldn't find another one. Stumbled across one when traveling for work, grab two, opened one a month ago. It was good, not even close to great. After first sip, I realized I had 4 stouts in my cellar that were much better. I included the second one I bought as an extra in a trade.

I had the same experience except I could easily find it haha. First one or two I thought were amazing but after having other beers and revisiting this I had a hard time finishing the bottle.

The first 6er was like a lightning bolt hit the tip of my penis. I've revisited since and while I still enjoy it, it's not the best beer I've ever had like I once thought it was.

Lots. Too many to name in fact and not just whales or just shelf beers either. Both kinds. I think it's testament to the idea that what is new to you is very exciting as long as you like it. Then you become accustomed to that taste or flavor and now it's simply not new and therefore no longer exciting. It also can be a great way to learn about beer tasting if you can put into words what you liked the first time and what you think is different the second time. There are also differences in beer from batch to batch which could also be a reason.

Bean Gene from Revolution. It was my introduction to bourbon-barrel aged beers and it blew me away. Fast forward a year later after trying some of the more prominent barrel aged beers and getting into heavy stouts... it seems a little weak by comparison. The base beer (Eugene) is acceptable but not Revolution's best work and the barrel character in the 2014 release is a little strange. Not enough of an expert to tell you why.

Pumking. Thought it was awesome when I had my first one a few years back. Stocked up on it the next year and was let down after the first bottle. Ended up giving the rest to friends. I could actually say the same about most pumpkin beers that I tried when I was first getting into craft beers.

Pseudo Sue - the first bottle I had was amazing. Every one since has failed to recapture that moment.

Funny...I was thinking about starting a thread about beers tasting best the first time you have it 99% of the time...i have noticed almost every beer I revisit over time is not as good as I remembered the first timing having it...a couple of recent beers I have experienced this with:
    - Sculpin
    - Pliny
    - Dirtwolf

A few beers that never seem to disappoint (that i have fairly often):
    - Hop Venom
    - Double Jack
    - Descender
    - Lil Sumpin Sumpin
    - Bourbon Abominable
