ISO Notch brewing bottled beer

    I tried posting in the ISO:FT forum yesterday but got no bites, forgive me, this is my last resort.

    I work at a cancer research institute. A coworker of mine works with a protein called "Notch". He is about to publish a paper about it. The lab he works in has a tradition: whenever a lab member publishes they all split a bottle of something and then roll up the paper, stick it in the bottle and then this bottle/paper hybrid becomes a shelf decoration.

    He caught wind of Notch brewing and loves the idea of publishing a paper about and then drinking a bottle of beer by Notch.

    I have contacted Notch, they are not planning to release new bottles any time soon.

    Is anyone aware of a store in the Boston area that still has any Notch brewing bottles from last summer in stock? I have a buddy in Boston who can pick it up and ship it to me.

    If this doesn't work I think my coworker is stuck with cans... I suspect he'll live if this is the case :slight_smile:

    You might want to give Marty's Big Buys a call and see if they have any Notch bottles. They have a "clearance" shelf that always has an oddball selection of old beers.

    The clearance beers are usually ones that nobody in their right mind should be buying (because they're beers that weren't intended to sit around), but if you're looking for old stock, it's a place to consider. I know I saw Notch bombers on that shelf on at least one of my visits, but that was a long time ago.

    Yeah, I just called Julio's in Westboro...all they have are Notch cans.

    Heyo, beer buyer for Marty's in Newton here. I just talked to the GM of our Allston store, we've successfully located a glass bottle of Notch! @totalbangover , tell your friend to head on in, ask for Rob, and say Ben sent him for the Notch bottle.

    I'm pretty sure Apex in Lexington has Notch Mule in bottles, in case you need more.

    My sincerest thanks to everyone who helped out with this! Just received the first bottle from @Davepoolesque and got one more on the way being shipped by a friend courtesy of @Ljudsignal. Massive beer karma to both! Cheers from Michigan!
