No HI, but we do have an AK (he posts slightly more than you). I actually skipped this round anyway so I knew it wasn't me, I just couldn't resist bustin balls.

Where you been? Are we not cool enough for you?

edit: Apple Brandy I recommend Captain Lawrence Golden Delicious, and the only Calvados thing I've ever seen (haven't had it) is JW Lees Harvest. There also apparently is a Beer Geek Brunch Weasel in Calvados barrels, but I haven't a clue how 'available' it is.

No one is cool enough for me... (Except you honey, in case you secretly have a BA account).

But seriously though... I'm taking a semi-self imposed break for a few reasons:
    1) In December friends of ours told us their unborn son had a pretty serious heart condition and unless he had surgery pretty much as soon as he's born he wouldn't make it (longer story but this is the second baby they'd lose). My wife and i helped them out with everything we could as they went to a specialist in Spain to have that surgery. this pretty much used up all my beer/trading capacity for a couple of months among other things.
    2) My cellar has grown quite a bit in the past couple of months and need to drink it down. In fact im thinking about doing some sort of epic tasting, charging for the entry and funds going to #1.
3). Trying to lose that beer gut and restricted to drinking beer once a week (in moderation supposedly but whatever lol). This doesn't exactly help with #2.
4). Visiting these forums and/or untappd just make me want to trade and do BIFs!!

So quite the contrary dude, all of you guys are a set of super solid folks that i love to virtually and via FedEx share beers with!

Cheers! My mouth is watering as tomorrow is my "beer day"!

And thanks for the AB recos!! @LehighAce06

Well... as promised, the "I have to wake up for work in 5 and a half hours" ****!

I now believe that at some point in the past, Texas was in some kind of "beer war", because the box @Clarkson came ready to make it through a minefield, very similar to the LIF box that @rspauldi sent.

I was greeted to this in my basement when I got home. Of course, as seems to be the case in this round... Clarkson was unable to count. And this haul was insane!

2014 BCBS -- Permawant, will look lovely on my shelf with the others!
Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout (Odell brewing) -- This sounds interesting, have never heard of it. Excited to try it!
Oak Cliff Coffee Ale (Deep Ellum brewing) -- Again, have not heard of it. Also excited to try it!
Snorkel (Jester King) -- After getting two JK brews in my last box and already trying JUST one of them, ANYTHING JK is already a permawant for me, at least until I try it and determine it's not for me. Very excited by this.

Boiler Room (Saint Arnold) -- Excited by this. I've not had many beers in this style, and always looking to try new things.
Hefeweizen (Live Oak) and Velvet Hammer (Peticolas) -- At least that's what I believe these two are/their breweries. Two crowlers? INSANE! Will have to get into these soon obviously, so I might take them to magfest this coming weekend and share them, as I won't have the chance to drink crowlers before then. Excited for both of these!
Barrel Aged Legion (Community) -- I love me some barrel aged stouts, and I recall hearing about this one at one point or perhaps seeing it around in this thread maybe. Really excited for this one (a "want that I didn't even realize was a want")
Velvet Merkin (2013, FSW) -- A want! I passed on buying the 2014 when I saw it this year because funds were low, even though I really wanted to try it, so really excited to have it, especially an older vintage!
Prairie BOMB! -- PERMAWANT. @jdhowe split a growler of this with me a month back or so, and I was FLOORED by how good this is.
Darkest Hour (Deep Ellum) -- Again, love me some stouts. Really excited for this one too!

The family shot. Clarkson, you absolutely KILLED it with this box, and I'm once again floored by the absolute generosity I see in this group, and am glad to be able to be a part of it. Some definite wants, some "brewery wants", and of course for sure, some soon to be "why wasn't that a want?"!!!

So does anyone have a night where they go out and only drink bud or miller lite and realize they can drink a ton if they arent drinking craft beer? Usuallly I am one of the drunker ones because I drink good beer, but tonight I just had bud and I feel fine. It always seems weird to be feeling this fine after I drank this much

Had a free (lucid) moment and figured I'd make a post to thank everyone in this thread. Been at the hospital with my wife since Wednesday. Only left to get her something and take a shower. We received a really nice flower arrangement from "the Locals" and I was gone home to take a shower. When I got back (about an hour) every friend/family member and the nursing staff were trying to figure out who the hell these Locals are. So I had to explain.....I told them they were a group of friends that are some of the most generous, compassionate people I know and even though I've only "known" them a short time they are here, showing support in a time of need.......I left out the beer and smartass parts......
In all seriousness we really appreciate the showing of support from this group. My wife couldn't believe that a group of people whom Ive really never met in person could be so generous and caring. Thank you all.

I say your earlier post on the Merkin so it had to go in there. You got the crowler right- one of the best Hefes in the US and a very good and popular local ( if you want to get drunk, just drink the Velevet Hammer by yourself).

    Enjoy!

(Finally) received a box from @LehighAce06 yesterday :stuck_out_tongue: Started as a trade to satisfy my friends thirst for Vanilla Buffalo Sweat and expanded to much more.

First, the beers for my friend

    Now, the beers for me

B.O.R.I.S. The Crusher Oatmeal-Imperial Stout - Want. Love imperial stouts and have tried a couple of these when a local store decides to break the rules. Have always wanted to get my hands on some of the others
D.O.R.I.S. the Destroyer Double Imperial Stout - Should have been a Want
Big Gruesome Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout - Want. Can't wait to try this one, sounds awesome from the description.
Arctic Alchemy - Don't know much about this one but I'm a fan of Barleywines so always happy to try something new
Prairie Noir - Want. Prairie does some great stuff and a lot of it doesn't hit cali, super happy to get a chance to try this
Expedition Stout - Want. One of the Bell's that I've always wanted to try and haven't been able to due to a lack of distro around here

Awesome box filled with wants, thanks a lot.

Take note that one of the Vanilla Buffalo Sweat, and the 'regular' Buffalo Sweat are both part of what's for you, I felt like you should get to taste that beer as well. Thanks again for your patience through the holidays and some inclement weather at the beginning of the month... and of course some general feet dragging on my part.

The Arctic Alchemy is really limited, comes from a local brewpub, it won Gold at GABF this year. That was the only one in there that wasn't a 'Want' or 'Want adjacent' but I figured a gold medal winner would be ok

ps - It only just now occurred to me that nothing in that box was for the recipient of the Buffalo Sweat and an 'extra', an oversight on my part. Admittedly, I somehow got all of that to fit into a 12-bottle shipper, so it's not like there was any chance of me fitting something else in anyway.

So sorry to hear about your friend's son. Instead of a tasting with an entry fee, you can always box up some of your cellar and do a donation raffle; you may well wind up with a few boxes more than you were offering yourself to be raffled off as well, I've seen that happen more often than not. With that said, your idea includes you being able to taste all the beers, and I certainly respect that, but I wanted to at least suggest it.

As for the AB - I'm pretty sure @Mikexw could help you with the Golden Delicious if you wanted to try that. It's called a tripel, but personally I got way more AB flavor than tripel.

Oh okay. I was rushing out of the door when the box came and was going to see my friend so didn't really think of the quantity. Luckily she handed me a couple of the cans back for my effort :stuck_out_tongue: So all worked out.

Awesome to hear about the Arctic Alchemy, I guess I'll have to save it to share with my friend who is a Barleywine addict.

That does work out, and also makes me feel like less of a chump for not giving her any extras! Now I can just pretend that I "extra'd" the same thing as her ISO because I knew nothing else about what she'd like :stuck_out_tongue: And it's cool that she'll be able to try the base of the beer since she's obviously such a fan, probably more 'appropriate' than you getting it; I would've sent 2 of the base but again, that shipper was packed. Thanks again for your end as well man, I hope my side of that came at least close to living up to what you sent.

WOW That was amazing. Love to know who did it as well, very thoughtful. Trying to catch on 10+ pages, not sure what took more time, watching my wife like a toddler around the house for 3-4 weeks to make sure she didn't hurt herself, or now with her back to work on "light" duty, trying to do the same in multiple locations.
