Just a thought I've had for a while. Is anyone else slightly bothered by the inconsistency in Sixpoint's availability? I'm a huge fan of their beer but every year they seem to change what beers they make and what's available. Example that comes to mind is that they don't make Autumnation anymore, one of my all time favorites. They started offering their brown ale "Brownstone" (one of the best in my opinion) in cans 3 years ago and then decided to stop. What happened to Righteous? or Diesel? I'm sure there is logical reasoning behind this, just wondering if anyone else shares a similar frustration.

I'm sure @Sixpoint can help you out with this notion. He's incredibly active on BA and usually willing to help.

Thus is the way of the beer world. Happens with every brewery.

It is my understanding that Sixpoint has made a conscious decision to ‘shake things up’ over the past 12 months. Perhaps it could be argued that they have always ‘shaked things up’ since they opened for business but it appears to me the rate of ‘shake’ was upped in 2014.

A consequence of ‘shaking’ is that changes are made. Some brands are no longer brewed but new brands are available to be consumed.

One of the old sayings I use is: the only constant is change.

I personally am very happy with the changes that Sixpoint have made in 2014 with the change I like the most is their new partnership with City Brewing – Memphis, TN.

I guess that this is a case of I like ‘shaking’!?!

    Cheers!

Out with the old; in with the new. At Sixpoint we like to attach the reigns to things that we believe have a strong future, and let others ride off into the sunset.

That's secret code for the beers we discontinued weren't selling that well.

No, its actually not. We've discontinued many beers that were selling very well.

We attach the reins to things that are in the springtime of their lives. That does not necessarily mean they are selling well. It means we believe they will one day be selling well.

Conversely, we let the others which we believe are in the twilight of their lives ride off into the sunset.

Its about rates of change; not about the static snapshot.

I moved from NY back to TN last month and while I was upset about moving to this beer 'Dead Zone', I recently found out that Sixpoint is going to hit distro here soon! Keep doing that you are doing, @Sixpoint

Out with the old, in with the new!

@Sixpoint Thank you for the insight and philosophy. To be clear, I am a huge fan here. I'm just lamenting over the loss of Autumnation and Brownstone mainly. I always look forward to your new creations.

Sixpoint is doing something right when I've literally seen almost every beer they have brewed being listed by someone on this site as one of their favorites that they brew...if you look on the "favorite sixpoint brew" thread you'll probably see 90 percent of the beers they brew getting a shoutout on it...not many breweries are that consistent...can't please everybody when it's that solid....I mean I ask for 3beans and a canned gorilla warfare to make appearances every night before I go to sleep...hint hint

Try the Beast Mode right now. There really is not a beer out in the market like it. It does not have that typical cloying, sweet and syrupy flavor of a porter. It drinks with the dryness of an IPA but with the great roasty/nutty/chocolate/bitter/tanginess of a stout/brown ale/porter/IPA hybrid. We think you'll dig it.

Also, keep your eyes out for the SENSI next fall.

Yup, that has been the goal since 2004. Make a diverse offering of formulations, but all of them must be "best of breed." And be careful what you wish for my friend - your desire to see 3Beans and and Gorilla Warfare had us come up with something very, very special in store for 2015....stay tuned

Been looking for the beast at my locals, none have it out yet. In other posts in the New England forum it is supposed to be here, so I will have to stick with until I'm successful. Gives me something to do.

You get 3 Sixpoint cans in the UK in Wetherspoons bars. Sweet Action, The Crisp and Bengali Tiger. I can't get enough of Bengali Tiger but would love to see some more variety over here in cans! Or some kegs even, I know there's been some cask colabs but I really can't do cask personally.

It's hit or miss here in NY bottle shops. I can only wish that Global Warmer and Hi Res were more readily available. They are hard to find. Even when I travel upstate.

My only gripe is that it disappeared from the Pittsburgh area. I can make an hour drive to house of 1000 beers to get it but I don't know how they get it themselves.

I like the rotation, it (generally) means if I get something of theirs, it's fairly fresh.

Enjoying one now, and really agree with this description. The finish is roasty and dry without being acrid, and the overall dryness makes it remarkably drinkable. Almost like a black IPA meets a porter. True to style? No. Delicious? Yes.
