Probably slipped my mind. And, that other one was a gift, you don't owe me for that. But yeah, we can work something out.:sunglasses:

Ethan, Christmas is indeed officially over; my Christmas tree is ‘down’.

I am sorry but I will have to declare a ‘violation’ here for drinking a beer ‘out of season’.

    Cheers!

Greetings NBS Regulars, and occassional observers!

SoCal is crisp this morning. The sunrise was awe inspiring today. A firy pink swath of clouds ablaze, contrasted with the sublime silence of damp dawn air.
I’m starting off today with 2 of the wonderful OHIO offerings that @WesMantooth delivered in his 13 beer
NBS BIF #1 salvo to my front porch, or what’s left of it.
To be honest, I cheated and popped the first one Friday night. And, I’m not sorry I did.:grinning:

    PsycHOPathy IPA

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/31093/92198/

Good couple fingers of head, held for a spell then tapered off into a lite beautiful layer.
Citrusy lemon zest meets grapefruit, a bit piney meets grassy. Some bready malt comes through nicely.
Taste starts with citrus, goes to grassy and then bready malt that takes a backseat to an earthy bitterness. Crisp yet slightly resiny on the finish.
Overall, quite good. I will seek this out again.

Second round shared with the wife, who is an aficionado of Amber Ales (that aren’t hop-forward).

    Eliot Ness
    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/73/229/

Beautiful amber hue, one finger of frothy oatmeal colored foam. Wow, clean malty sweet with a hint of nuttiness on the nose.
Kinda sweet for an Amber, but in an OH SO RIGHT way. And then comes the nuttiness. Incredible! We agree, this would be an awesome beer to have available regularly.
The finish is much the same. Very consistent through and through.
Overall, I would make this a regular in my fridge to offer to any and all! And I would score points with the wife too. ISO!!!

So far a great beginning to this NBS BIF #1! As I said before, @WesMantooth is more than a Beer Advocate, he's a Beer Ambassador!

Sierra Nevada Nooner Pilsner. JackHorzempa has already posted about this brew today and I agree with him 100%.Nooner is one of the best Plisners I have ever had. Sierra Nevada is amazing. They seem to be able to brew an outstanding beer in any style they choose to. Known for brewing hoppy ales and able to brew lagers as breweries known for lagers.

First time posting on NBS. The aroma and taste have lots of citrus and tropical fruits. This is an excellent session IPA that I wish was readily available to me. It's the only session IPA that I've had that I would seek out again.

My third week in a row posting on NBS. This must be a new record. Celebrating my birthday with a beer that I have had only in samples. I visited Proclamation Ale Co. in West Kingston, RI yesterday. Tried some samples of 4 of their beers, Tendril IPA, Derivative Pale Ale, Trickster milk stout and a one off, just-for-the-hell-of-it batch of trickster in a giant mason jar with a bunch of coffee beans in it. Left with a branded mini snifter and 3 growlers. Well, actually, I left with 2 growlers and my fiancee left with one, due to Rhode Island liquor laws that state that I can only leave with 72 ounces of beer. I've cracked open on of the growlers of Derivative.

    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25

Poured from a Proclamation Ale 32 oz growler into a tulip glass.

L: Pours a brilliantly hazy, glowing yellowy-orange hue. Small head quickly fades into a tiny white ring around my glass. There's a bit of lacing left on the glass as I drink this.

S: Smells of strong citrus notes with some faint pine in the background. Orange and lemon are the main citrus fruits that are picked up. Not much else on the nose, but not much else is really needed.

T: Citrusy hops come forward as a take a sip of this. Some moderate bitterness on the back end. Minimal malt flavor lets me know what the intentions of this beer is. At 6%, this has more hop flavor than some IPAs I've had. Great stuff here.

F: Pretty thin to medium feel with a lower carbonation level. However, that carb level might be due to a potential error with the growler purging. The sample I had at the brewery seemed to be a bit more carbonated than this. Either way, Derivative is still a great representation of the new-school version of the ever evolving American Pale Ale.

Overall: A nice beer from a tiny, but rapidly expanding brewery in a state that's not really known for it's craft beer scene. The citrus hops, which I believe are galaxy hops lend a nice flavor and aroma to this beer. Great job, Proclamation. Hopefully Rhode Island will loosen their liquor laws and allow me to get more than 72 oz. of beer from these guys.

Time for some new beer on this rainy Sunday. Starting with this "overrated" beer from the box @Stillyman11, have to say it is damn good, can't wait until next week when I really get to dig into everything!

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Big thanks to Stillyman11 for this
16 oz can, dated 11/26/14, poured into a tulip

A- A slightly hazy golden orange with a four finger white head.

    S- Pine, dank, citrus, fruity.

T- Piney/dank bitter finish, bright citrus upfront, slightly fruity, caramel malts that give it a nice balance, well done.

    M- Smooth, medium body.

O- An awesome IPA from Surly. Differently worth seeking out, I would not call this beer overrated.

Again big thanks to @Stillyman11, cheers!

    Good weekend, NBS crowd!

Started yesterday seeing if we could get some Founders CBS and/or KBS, but we weren't willing to wait in the line. In the long run, I think we made the right choice, as we still got to enjoy some nice beers elsewhere (as detailed in yesterday's WBAYDN). Caps drop two straight, but UVa wins 2 this week while Duke dropped another (before redeeming themselves against Louisville). Cavaliers should still be undefeated going into the Duke game in two weeks (and they get almost a week off beforehand), but we'll see next week if I can post the same.

Since I have at least 3 weeks of NBS beers thanks to @strohme2 and the NBS BIF, I figured I'd start with the IPAs, because fresher is better, right?

Starting with the oddball (as the two other IPAs are from the same brewery), sharing with my girlfriend:

It says English IPA, but doesn't taste like it (to me). The beer was enjoyable, but quite a bit on the malty side. The English IPA flavors I am used to are hiding in there, but the malt forward nature of the beer gave me the impression of lighter dark Belgians or German Dopplebocks a lot more than an IPA. So, ignoring style, it was a nice, malty/bready beer to start the day off with.

Good afternoon fellow BA's! Going with a local brew from one of the best new breweries around: Neshaminy Creek Croydon Cream Ale!
A friend at work suggested this one to me as an easy drinker and a true to style Cream Ale.
Super crystal clear straw yellow body; 1/2 finger soapy like head. No lacing left in the glass.
Smells like a typical lager style with some wet cardboard and a little cracker-like smell.
Tastes EXACTLY like one would expect from an "American Lawnmower Ale" - a little lemon on the tip of the tongue, followed by that dry maltiness and a little corn.
A super light mouthfeel; watery, clean finish and at 4.2% you can definitely put several of these down.
Overall a decent and easy drinker for what it is; not exactly a style that receives a lot of love on this site, and not exactly a style you'd think of having on a cold wintry day like today, but just imaging a hot steamy August with a can in your hand...pure refreshment!
Plus NC's label art is funny, inviting, and cool looking!

From New Hampshire. Smuttynose SmuttLabs Grisette. The style is officially listed as a Saison/Farmhouse but the label calls it a county table ale. So the glassware I used, while it says Smuttynose on the glass, might be subject to debate. But quite frankly, this 3.5% ABV beer had a slight sour character reminiscent of a Saison/Farmhouse but generally it came across tasting more like a traditional pilsener to me. I was disappointed in the thin watery body. The aroma and flavors had some basic toasted malt and grassy hop notes. The label also says, drink fresh but unfortunately I am drinking this almost 2 1/2 months after it was bottled. So that might have tainted my drinking experience.

Don't 'cha just hate it when there are too many abbreviations in a sentence? In the search for efficiency the result is confusion. Anyway,
    Greeting NBSer's!,
From a January balmy day in SCMN with actual January thaw on-going (low 30's and some sun), however briefly, the short reprieve is such an important break from the intensity of the cold. This is a break we have not had several of the last few winters. As anybody who has lived here knows, it makes a difference.
Today, along with cleaning out the slush in my garage for a bit, I'll be "supporting" my lovely wife in her quest to have the Packers make the Super Bowl, again. As a lifelong Vikings fan I'm only a little jealous. Only a little.
Today I may do 2 entries to NBS as I received a most awesome package this week from @larryi86, which will keep me active in NBS for several weeks. Today will be a hops day.
