Ever since FFF went with running waters group to manage the event, DLD has been run fairly well the last couple years imo. Now for crowd surge handling the ticket sales last year, bring on the hate I say haha

    Last year was incredibly smooth.

Can't wait til this years. I got folded up like lawn chair the night prior last year and was a dead fish for DLD. It sucked. This year, the liver waits til "the day" no sooner.

Except for the assholes who showed up every Saturday and Sunday morning after the online ticket sales, hoping FFF was going to sell onsite tickets.

I really wouldn't consider them assholes, they didn't really hurt anything. I felt really bad for the group that drove down from Vermont the one weekend with hopes of tickets.

Why would you feel bad for a group of dumbasses? Words can't express how stupid it is to travel cross-country based on a rumor, all in hopes of buying a ticket to buy beer that's easily attainable via the trade market.

Yea maybe assholes was the wrong word. Dumbasses is the more appropriate term as @sbxx stated.

Dumbasses is probably a better word but I can still have sympathy for them. They obviously really wanted to go after getting shut out online.

If you're from Vermont you don't need a ticket in advance. Show up with a case of heady and you'll find a way in.

Why in the world would anyone drive across country from Vermont when they could just as easily buy an extra on Craigslist? Surely, even with the inflated prices, they still would've saved money (not to mention time).

Maybe they enjoy the guest tappings, the food, the chance at a variant, hanging out with fellow beer enthusiasts, bottle sharing, the chance to make a trip of it and hit all the Chicago breweries as well?

I meant Craigslist to buy the tickets, not the beer at the event.

Sounds like a group I would get along with...they know the value of an experience rather than just buying a ticket on CL. They will definitely have a better story in the long run.

Hello all, California BA here, trying to make the trip out for my first DLD this year. Any idea when the dates will be announced? Also, should I assume that all lodging in the vicinity of Three Floyd's has been booked for months already, or is it not that difficult to find hotels in the area? Any advice is appreciated.

I forget exactly when, but I believe they typically sell tickets the weekend of St. Patrick's Day (I'm too lazy to look it up, and I know someone will correct me). I think usually hotels are booked by now, but rooms start to open up once people have tried (and failed) to get DLD tickets, so give it a shot now, but know that you should also try after DLD.

Alternatively, you can travel to Chicago, stay there, and take one of the buses out to DLD; different places across the city have buses going out in the morning and coming back in the evening. If you're planning on staying for more than just DLD, you might wanna go this route, since Chicago is a lot more exciting than Munster.

Okay, thanks, I couldn't remember. All I remembered is that it's typically a day that I'm either drunk or hungover!
