Agreed... we all still go nuts over Bourbon County stuff and continue to not care that much about GI's other brews... and AB InBev bought out GI a long, long time ago...

As a matter of procedure I was going to wait until I had pron to share, but it was already my plan to tag him in thanks when posting that, and include the suggestion that he join. Kind of a moot point now though

Ok I'm back, got a LIF to wrap up since it's past 10PM and I'm finally caught up on the thread.

But first a little about my day:

Left the house around 7AM headed north to the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area to visit some customers, friend from the area said I should work a stop at Sabatini's Pizza if possible, glad I did.

Had a nice little lunch paired with a glass of Thirsty Dog Bourbon Barrel Aged Orthus.

The do beer events monthly or so there, this is the next on in February, damn I wish it was closer than 2 hours away:

Ended up talking to one of the owners who is their "beer guy" on staff, let me look at the stock room in the back and pick through the special stock, came away with this little haul:

Brasserie Dieu De Ciel Peche Mortel - On my wants, never saw this in PA before, at $4/bottle grabbed a few extras for future considerations
Stone Enjoy by 2-14-15 - Didn't get one yet so why not.
Weyerbacher Rhumpshaka - Never even heard of this one, anyone know anything about this?
Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout - Want for me, yes please.
Lost Abbey Agave Maria - Tequila barrel aged? Sound interesting.
Lost Abbey Box Set Track #8 - Sounds yummy.
Prairie Christmas Bomb! - Recently had on draft but couldn't pass up a bottle.

Now currently drinking a Jackie O's Brick Kiln while I type all of this up:

Sorry this was so long winded....

I don't 'boycot' breweries in this position by any means, and I'm very happy that so far AB has seen fit to leave well enough alone when it comes to the bought out breweries. What frightens me though is what happens when they've acquired more than one or two, but 20 or 30, and they tire of all the small shops running how they like, and decide to put an end to it. At that point all these brands we love could be reduced to little more than a style of label art and a set of creative beer names (ie "branding").

You and @Xtent (by popping his head in in the first place) both kinda did! But really it's not a big deal, and I'll still have something nice to say when the time comes.

The Agave Maria is nice, interesting flavor. Track 8, on the other hand, is just flat out AWESOME. And I'm a bit jealous of the Uncle Jacob's, I keep hearing how great it is but haven't ran into it on my own. Long story short, nice little haul!

I forgot to post this in the thread, but are any of the WI folks gonna be at CW 17 tomorrow? I'm making the drive up and back tomorrow but thought I'd see if anyone would be around to share a beer.

I think if they try to do a "hostile acquisition " of craft beer to any extent, brewers and folks would simply quit and do their own thing all over again taking their fans with them. Now im not beer geek enough to know most of the brewers around here, etc. but know a lot of folks who are - it's interesting that they actually follow these brewers once they become fans, regardless of the brewery they brew for. i think things like this make craft very difficult to contain for a bmc.

New batch of UJS will be out next month... way to cloying of a BA stout for my tastes, but yeah, obviously it's in the top 250 so everyone else seems to love it!

Have you had it aged? With that description I'm betting it'd be even better with a couple years on it.

I'm sure that's true to a point, like how fans of Chief followed him to Peekskill, but at the same time the people that are industry aware enough to follow a brewer definitely don't make up a large portion of the market, even the 'craft' market; there's a reason Ithaca is still huge while Peekskill hasn't grown at a meteoric rate. And that's not even an AB acquisition, just a couple large/small breweries. Anyway, I'm not saying these things will take place next year, just that it might be where the industry is headed, and I'm not a fan of that direction; the fewer things AB controls the better, imo.

I'm too lazy to quote it, but thank you for the advice on Freemont, besides them what else can I ask her to look for that is worth picking up but also reliably available? Any top-tier Seattle/Portland IPAs that I wouldn't even know about, but should?

MOAS is on shelves right now but sells out fast. its also $30ish with taxes. i recommend Reubens and Black Raven IPAs. Sucaba 15 and Arctic Devil are also avail with 1 ppl in most places.

And one final thing before I take my tired ass to bed. Is there anyone on here that's in or familiar with the Charlotte area? Flying down Monday later afternoon for a meeting all day on Tuesday. Will be staying by the airport, not much free time but may be able to hunt some beer. I've done some research on here and on facebook but I'm looking for some local knowledge. What is the best bottle shop and best restaurant/bar taplist in the general vicinity of the airport?

Is there a limit to the number of LIFs someone can win in a week...this is my third in my first week in the thread! Maybe I should play the powerball instead. I guess I need to conjure up some more LIFs of my own now.
