Enjoyed some Lawsons over the weekend on brew day.

 

A little breakfast while watching the Dan Patrick Show after shoveling the walkways. Not much snow here, looks like we sent it out east. It was a beautiful sunrise about an hour ago!







Some muffins and honey roasted peanut butter from Whole Foods to accompany it. Cheers to Super Bowl week!

 

Snows falling hard here, up to 2 feet expected. I'm staying warm inside with a little help...

Good morning BA's! Just got home for a 24hr shift, my last involuntary 24h weekend shift ever! In addition, purely coincidentally today is the 5th anniversary of me joining Beer Advocate! So popping open something special to celebrate, thanks to @ChewbaccaSD who sent it over in a trade. Also coincidentally, my 650th BA review! Sometimes the stars align!

Ain't No Sunshine When Saison by Odd Side

Love the name, dislike the beer.



Bottled 12/17/14 and poured 1/26/15. $2.19 single. Didn't see that this was brewed with anything crazy, but I always need to try a new Odd Side beer when I see it regardless.

Appearance: Hard pour down the middle of the glass actually didn't do much for a head. Nothing but a thin film on top of this beer. The color is a very, very hazy orange/brown kind of color. Basically no lacing. Meh.

Smell: Banana and cloves or coriander... really just smelling like a hefeweizen or, more, a witbier. After that, a little caramel malt and a very, very slight spiciness coming in from somewhere -- presumably the hops. It smells pretty good, but also safe and with the feeling that I've smelled it before.

Taste/feel: Loads of the banana/clove/coriander from beginning to end without much going on. After the swallow, a little malt comes through thankfully to keep this beer from being completely one-dimensional. Pretty boring regardless. The feel is what kind of kills this beer. It goes in feeling completely flat, and it basically drinks that way, too -- about a medium body on this, with almost no carbonation.

As usual, a "normal" beer from Odd Side that just isn't very good. It pours looking "blah", but it does have a decent aroma and taste. What really basically kills this beer for me, other than the fact that it's a pretty "meh" saison at best, is the fact that there's almost no carbonation in this beer. I love Odd Side, but I'd not buy this one again.

Wasn't going to have a beer this morning; but then I thought, 'why not?'

 

Still trying to muscle my way through the 12 of these I bought. Stone should seriously
consider changing the name (or recipe) from Delicious to something more fitting like
Lemony.
