In a country where Kraft macaroni and cheese and Gatorade gross $100 billion in sales annually don't expect craft beer to do better than 10%.
In many parts of Montana DOODS will go to into their local bar and sit drinking PBR from the F'n can.

Who cares. McDonalds and Olive Garden is probably America's favorite food on someones stupid poll but that doesn't mean it's quality food.

I'm pretty sure another poll rates America's favorite music is Nickleback and Justin Beiber too.

I think the so called results were pre determined. I highly doubt there even was a poll. Mainstream journalism and media are a fucking joke.

Those are merely the "fastest-growing beer brands" - not the "favorites" by any definition one normally uses for that word, despite the Yahoo headline. Unless one thinks that people don't buy their "favorite" beers, i guess?

The Top 5 best selling beers in the US (agreed by both BMI and IRI stats):

    Bud Light
    Coors Light
    Budweiser
    Miller Lite
    Corona Extra

No, because the article's "fastest growing" is determined by actual sales figures from 2008-2013.

My craft beer fascination kinda goes along with a lot of other aspects of my tastes...I refuse to watch crappy popular reality TV, I like WWII documentaries...I DETEST popular music, I listen to off the wall progressive stuff that most people have never heard of...I very rarely eat at fast food or chain restaurants, I prefer the local hole in the wall places, so maybe that's why I drink Indiana Pales Ales (seriously, that's what my buddy calls them when he raids my beer fridge) instead of mass produced swill....Oh, and I friggin' hate Stella

It's ok - go ahead and offend them. I'm good with that....

Just out of curiosity, how popular is Lienenkugel in WI? Obviously New Glarus is more popular in craft circles, but overall, is there a feeling that they (Leinie's) are like the go-to local AAL and such? Equal or better tap representation than BMC? just curious.

It is very popular, but I couldn't tell you how well it sells. While I don't ever purchase any of their beer, they do make a few decent ones. Their Snowdrift Vanilla Porter is pretty good, and they make a decent line of bigger beers (IIPA, RIS, Wee Heavy, etc.) called the Big Eddie Line.

I am not above admitting that I can kill the better part of a 12 pack of those damn shandies while mowing the lawn. Fill up a little cooler, hang it around the steering wheel, earbuds full of metal - that's a killer Sunday afternoon in summertime VA...

Modelo and Stella are damn fine beers, surprised that they even made the list.

Articles like these are written to elicit responses. Remember the metric was % increase in barrel sales. That does not mean that those first time purchasers enjoyed what they bought. I think that is a good case for why more people are searching out craft beers because they want something better than adjuncts and swill. I'll be curious to see if this list will remain constant for next year's beer article controversy.

Montanan here. Can confirm this. I've also seen bars that will literally serve their beer in red cups.

BUT Montana also has a thriving craft beer scene with lots of passionate quality-beer drinkers.
