What barrels they use?

 

GI will make a better barrel aged maple stout than Founders could ever pull off with CBS(yeah minus the coffee even). I love CBS, but the potential here with maple BCBS. I am not sure that the craft beer community can handle the awesomeness that is about to happen IF Maple BCBS is really happening. Its going to be Plutonic. It will go nuclear. The world is not ready for this. I hope it happens. In the worst way...Just sayn...

Total assumption here but probably same barrels they used for bbpt5. They sold it in the store the week after 4elf.

 

If we are talking GI the standard barrels used for aging bourbon county is Heaven Hills barrels. Could be any barrel though...

 

Voodoo brewing just released bourbon barrel maple syrup and honey.

I like the idea of maple beers but they surprise me a little from time to time.

Harpoon made a maple porter this year. I was pretty excited by and grabbed a few. When I popped one, it wasn't a grade a, light maple syrup you'd drown french toast with but more that darker, grade b you'd use for cooking. Still tasty, I thought, just in a different way than I expected.

As for a maple bcbs? I'm not either super into GI or one of the guys who won't ever buy AB on principle; but I'll let you guys make the reviews before I decide to hunt one down or not.

 

Wow, just wow. Feels good to know this exists reguardless of it's distribution. Really enjoyed Black Maple and may get to tase CBS in a few days but I'm trying not to get my hopes up about it considering the number of people who seem unimpressed by this batch.

 

If this is really happening I hope it's just maple. I don't want coffee, I want maple. The barrels can be rye or bourbon, I don't care; I just want maple. Then maybe they can use maple BCS barrels for the 2016 release of Bourbon County Barleywine, which may or may not crash the trading subforum.

 

Not saying that Goose Island couldn't do this well (Kane did a really good maple stout that I've had), but I have an issue with calling it innovation

 

This is going to be awesome, especially if this is this years prop blend. I would also love to see a chochlate mint bcbs

 

Grade A is for sissies; give me grade B any day in any situation.

 

Let me know when you can't find any BCBS of any kind on the shelf, regardless of being squarely in a distro area.

 

BCBS and some Barleywine can be found on the shelf in MA
