The xxx was a perfect follow up to CBS. Such a good beer and considerably better than regular sweet repute.

Anybody else hoping tomorrow's bottles turn out to be something other than Backwoods Bastard? Not hating on the beer, but would really like something a bit more exciting.

One thing with which I'm struggling is trying to reconcile them releasing vintage bottles with them expressly suggesting to drink the same stuff fresh.

Agreed but this shows how nice it ages too.. the bottles these past two days are extremely good and are priced really reasonable.. anyone know exactly where these are/were kept? I noticed the bottles were pretty cold like they were refrigerated before..

I'd be there if I didn't work all weekend.

I guarantee tomorrow is a Backwoods vertical release, then you'll probably see vintage backstage releases on Saturday.

My guess is they kept them in the gypsum mines where they age All the KBS. Seems to make sense they would do it there.

How about just enjoy drinking CBS on tap at the source and not worry about bottles being released.

You must be the sucker of dreams they speak of... I will happily drink any of the offerings they have on, just as i did earlier this week and will again on Saturday. Forgive me for being excited about the possibility of special bottles being released at my favorite brewery. I'll do my best to contain my anticipation from here on out.

I would think in their cold storage at the brewery. Taking up space at the mines would be dumb as they need all the space they can get and bringing the beer back to the brewery, bottling it, then back to the mines doesn't seem likely to me.

I'm with the mine concept. Now granted I've never seen the mine, but I'm sure its a lot cheaper for a business to find storage in a cavern than in a brick and mortar store. Especially given the craft market boom where all of these places are growing faster than they can keep up with square feet. And this stuff is sitting around for years. Refrigeration is free in the mine. Smart business.

They definitely fill growlers that you bring. I do not remember if they need to be "Founders" growlers.

Just to clarify, he was asking about howlers not growlers.

They have filled my howler both times I've brought it in. It doesn't have to be a founders one. They actually mentioned how cool my smartmouth brewing howler looked, they thought they had a pretty cool looking logo. I think it was half the growler price. However they dont keep howler caps on hand so they inspected my old cap really well making sure it was clean and odor free. It may depend on the bartender as well, I'm not sure. This has been my few experiences. Cheers.
