How often do you guys ask a friend or coworker that dosent know anything about craft beer, to pick something up for you at a store because they are driving somewhere out of town...

As often as I ask people with season tickets for a game. Often enough that no one likes me

Never. Significant other and beer nerd friends? That's a whole 'nother ball of wax, though.

Zero times. I travel enough myself, between work and my girlfriend's family and friends being in two different states.

Now, a friend that actually knows something about beer and what I like...that's another story.

Not often, but when its something specific I'll give them the name and send a pic of it, so it won't take them forever to find

Asked a friend who lives in Paris to bring a bottle or two (Belgian) as she travels back to the states on a regular basis. Even found her a bottle shop near her house and noted the brewers I wanted. She never said no, but she hasn't said yes either.

Tried with both my boss and a subordinate, each of them had separate trips to Kentucky last year and I wanted to see if they could pick me up some Bo' n' Luke if they came across any. They didn't even bother, I think they were surprised I asked yet they want me to recommend brews and even ask for some (BCBS). It's a one-sided relationship, I'm getting screwed here.

I've done it a few times. Usually the person finds something for themselves as well and has thanked me for sending them places they otherwise would not have gone to. Usually they tell me they meet locals that way.

I never trust anyone to pick up beer for me, I get my own.

I don't do it either, although I do often "talk beer" with my co-workers. However, I subscribe to the adage that if you want something done right, you do it yourself.

I don't think I've ever asked someone who doesn't know anything about craft beer, but a few times I've asked "craft-curious" friends to pick me up something. It usually works out

wow, i'm surprised to be in the minority here but all the time, its not like i pressure them, i always pay them back right away and make sure to show my appreciation, many times they offer.

This is actually how I got my best friend and my dad into craft beer. Give them a taste of the hunt and when the beer lives up to the expectation, it's on!
