Glad all you guys had so much fun! I didn't follow too closely, but it looks like everyone really enjoyed the BIF concept, and I'm looking forward to seeing you guys do future rounds and keep this thread alive (no real need for a new NBO and new Hints & Hauls thread now that this is up to 20 pages long) and hopefully some of you will join other BIFs too!

My first time mailing a growler. I had to go with 32oz for space reasons. I hope it's still fresh enough for human consumption after nearly a week with Fedex. It literally went from the tap to the box, which was dropped off about 15 minutes later. I found out Laughing Dog does have "limited" distribution to NJ, but I hope those two are new to you. Don't see the glass - did it make it intact?

Ironically, where you live it's easier to get a can of Beastmode than where I am!
C'mon, @Sixpoint, you're passing up a gold mine right now! (I've no idea if it's actually good or not, but my experiences with what Sixpoint beers I've had tells me I'd dig it).

Strike while the iron is hot (though I understand you have to send each individual beer you plan to sell here to the members of the Washington State Liquor Control Board - nice racket, that!)! I suspect it'll have less cultural "resonance" around here starting next year, since it's considered by many that it's unlikely Lynch will be back (that whole RBs aging out thing), which is unfortunate for a 'hawks fan such as myself, as they have no one else currently able to step into his shoes (gold-colored or otherwise).

Well I finally got a chance to dig into the growler the @woemad sent me.
A great DIPA Impaler by Iron goat
This growler traveled 3000+ miles and spent 8 days in the custody of FedEx.
It still poured and drank like a champ

Great beer. Thank you for giving me the chance to enjoy this beer that I probably would never get to try.

Well, there's 8 breweries (11 if you include Spokane Valley) where I live, plus one about to open, and only one currently bottles (and they kinda suck) so I had to send something in a growler. Really glad it seems to have traveled well, never having mailed one before.

Hi all! Due to computer issues, I was off-line for a couple weeks, and thusly missed the big day. I was able to follow NBS somewhat on my phone, it looks like everyone had a great time. I'll be catching up on reviews for the beers I drank on the couple NBS's I missed, and try to get them posted this week.

On to house keeping. Was everyone satisfied with the way the BIF went? Any problems? What's the interest level in Round #2? If we decide to do it again, I'd be happy to host again, and equally happy to let someone else take the helm. If we go again, what would be a good time frame? Thoughts, comments, suggestions, complaints (except for whining about the destruction of porches, suck it up buttercup!), general musing and ramblings? Could we get Katy Perry involved in the next one? Maybe Snoop Dogg-Lion-Marmot-Lemur in a shark costume?

    Welcome back!

I for one truly enjoyed the BIF (all three aspects: giving, receiving, and New Beer Sunday-ing (i.e. sharing) our results), and would love to do it again. I think the timeframe given last time was just about perfect, despite falling over the holidays. So, no suggestions or complaints.

Other than, maybe, expand out the invitations - if peeps who don't normally participate in NBS are eager and willing (willing, in this case, also meaning willing to make an NBS-appropriate post about their beer), then I think a BIF might make a great chance to rope those folks into our little club-within-a-club.

It wen't well, I'm sure we can drag a few more in no problem for the next round. No rush on that though, I have plenty of boxes to send out over the next month or so.

An no, I didn't forget about our potential Troegs for your locals deal, just waiting till things calm down a bit and I get an official word on the BA Flying Mouflan release date.

No worries. It's my slow time of the year, so play money is at a premium for me now anyway.

I enjoyed it and I am definitely up for another one. I would suggest April. Shoot for every 3 months.
Thanks to everyone for making this BIF so much fun.

Loved every damn moment of it. Spreadsheets galore! Would definitely be down for another one at some point, though would appreciate a chance for my wallet to recover a bit before diving back in. I also wish that the release schedule of certain local brews I wanted to include had worked better with the timing, but every brewery is going to have a different schedule, so I don't know if it's possible to try to time it out to be able to cater to releases (late December/early January was a mildly surprising dead-zone locally, though).
I also think it would be cool to invite some non-NBSers, in order to expand the pool as well as a little hook to grow our not-a-cult-I-promise! a little bit more...

I have to agree with the previous few posts. I had a blast doing this BIF !! Everything about it was awesome even the group we had. I'm definetly in for another one and I agree every 3-4 months would be killer. I'm more than willing to help @beertunes if it makes life easier. As much fun as I find trading beer. I think the nbs bif was the most fun I've had in awhile. You know the stalking prey an all. Makes me feel like hunting season all over again. Either way count me in and see you guys on Sunday.

Oh, I know this post in slowing down but alas, the last (I believe) BIF box has arrived. I came home late last night to my box of treats. My teenage daughter could barely get it into the house. and i really worried as I gently set the weighty bow on our dining room table. Here we go:

All I can say is I may have been last, but certainly not least. As I opened the box, I realized that the generous giver must own stock in a packaging tape company.

The generous BA on the other end of this transaction........the California King, @aoampm . His diligence was my reward. Twelve containers of great brews, none of which I have had before. See below
    [IMG]

    Here is a list:
    - Pizza Port - Swami's IPA
    - Modern Times - Black House
    - Modern Times - Blazing World
    - Modern Times - Fortunate Islands
    - Evil Twin - Molotov Lite
    - Evil Twin - I Love You With My Stout
    - Alpine - Mandarin Nectar
    - Knee Deep - Simtra Triple IPA
    - Fat Hog - Barleywine
    - Kern River - Class 5 Stout

And just for extra special good measure:
    - Russian River - Damnation
    - Epic - BA Big Bad Baptist (with about a year of gentle life on it)
    - An awesome Rip Current Snifter and Port Brewing tasting glass

I am really appreciative of his generosity. Look for some upcoming posts today on NBS as I hit up those IPA's!!!

So just a few more things......This has really been a lot of fun. It was great to see all the pics and jokes and especially the generosity. What a group of generous and thoughtful, and relatively funny people. Thank you so much @beertunes and @LehighAce06 for making this all happen.

I enjoyed everything about the BIF. Connecting with BAs, feeling as part of a community and of course trying new beers! To me, the best part of a beer trade is the unknown extras. Everything from NBS BIF was a surprise and that was the best part! I'd love to be a part of BIF#2.

    How about a spring trade?

This BIF went great and the folks involved made it that way. Not sure how fair it is to @beertunes to ask him to do it again, but IMHO he was great running this.

I vote to want to do this BIF again, and if the vote is if we want it as a regular ongoing BIF, I vote yes for that as well.

I loved everything about this BIF, too! I definitely vote to make it a regular ongoing BIF.

Unfortunately, I will have to bow out for the next one (too many bigger personal events on the docket, like planning a Bar Mitzvah, and getting #1 son enrolled in college and all that goes with it)- but I would love to re-join it again down the road.
