No. No one is arguing that Pat should've let him pick up the bottles, the point is that Pat didn't need to be a dick about it.

Right, I see that the first response was unwarranted, the second one seemed to be in response to the refund thing that I also read like HeavySpeedway as trying to be a smart ass.

I guess the question about a refund is vaguely debatable as to what the intent was, but the fact remains that Pat was instigating.

If the customer is smart, he'll do a chargeback and let his credit card company handle it. At best he gets his money back, at worst he makes Alpine deal with the hassle of responding and contesting it. Sure, it's a bit vindictive, but I would hope someone who's as fond of personal responsibility as Pat is would be prepared to deal with the consequences of his actions.

Maybe, maybe not. Once we lift all of the butt hurt from the issue, that probably is the interesting issue that is left.

I'm sort of wondering if Alpine is trying all sorts of shit to see what they want to do with special releases in the future.

Yeah, and it does bring into question the legality of all these narrow windows and hoops that you need to jump over in order to get the beer. How binding are these restrictions they set. In California Gift Cards can not expire for example. So I'd imagine that the fine print and windows that all these breweries put in place, while there to make sure they're not left holding beer too long, probably aren't all that enforceable or would hold any weight on the situation anyway.

Simple solution would be the hit up the CC and make it annoying for Alpine to try to defend that as a justified charge when the buyer never received the product.

So you're saying I can let The Bruery hold my Reserve Society beers for a couple years since it will probably take me that long to get around to drinking them? That's great news!

This is pretty cut and dry for me. There was an agreement in place when the purchase was made. If you don't agree with it, make the purchase. Those are the terms, and is is spelled out as clearly as it can be. You don't have the right to try to dance around it after you click that "agree" box (Just ask the iTunes users on South Park how that turns out).

It is really very simple. Not sure why everyone is trying to complicate and turn it into an argument with baseless assumptions. Oh wait.... I forgot what website I was on for a second. That's my bad. Carry on.

Who is defending Pat? Well, other than xtent?

Here's what I predict will happen:

    1. The people that didn't pick up their bottles will end up getting their money back in some form or other
    2. Alpine never will use the BPT system for special releases again
    3. Alpine will still be really busy
    4. Every time they have special releases the "CatchyNames" will still come get in line and wait for a few hours or more.

LOL. That is fucking hilarious. You spare no time or energy bad mouthing Alpine overtime the word comes up, yet your money still goes directly from your pocket into their account. You tell yourself whatever you need to to be cool with that.

Alternate solution - Green Flash helps them with the logistics of special releases. Alpine brews and packages, delivers a pallet to Green Flash, and allows them to handle BPT (or alternate means of selling), pickups, and everything else. Alpine wins because they don't have to dick around with things they don't like (and quite frankly aren't good at), Green Flash wins because it gets more people through their doors, and customers win because they'd probably get a bigger pickup window and less of a hassle if things go wrong.

As someone who enjoys BPT releases, the legality of the restrictions put in place is a can of worms id rather see left unopened

So we'll have to start buying tickets to pairing dinners in order to buy special beers? Ugh...

I'm hoping GF backs away from that as they continue growing, but I guess it is a risk of that scenario. Either way, I think leveraging Green Flash's front office resources in some fashion - even if it's just managing BPT and communications - would be beneficial.

    No, it would not.

There is a reason why Green Flash was the perfect match for Alpine.

Not here to defend Pat or Alpine. But Pat is the man behind Alpine and their beers. So maybe he can say and do whatever he wants to. His choice. After all they are practically out in the sticks. And making some fine beers. But soon I have a feeling that may all change. With Green flash taking over all the brewing of Alpine beers. Yes that means for us and other states more Alpine beers. It's already making an appearance at Tustin Brewing Co. But the real source is still coming out of Alpine if you ask me. I would rather go directly to Alpine in Alpine to get my bottles and growler fills. But soon that will change. All bottles and draft will be brewed at GF. And how is it going to taste? Maybe not 100% like coming out of Alpine. Close? We will have to wait and see. I've had the GF/Alpine Nelson, Duet and Hoppy Bday and Nelson was the best out of the bunch. Duet and H Bday were off. And lately GF's beers have changed over the years. I used to drink West Coast IPA's and a regular basis. I haven't had a GF beer in over a year and half. Except for a half glass of Palate Wrecker at BWSB last week. Not the same as their very first batch. So it may not be all great news now that Alpine is contracting out to GF.

I would only like GF to take over the BPT and pickup window just because it is right down the street. Yay convenience!

Are those allegedly pics from an email chain?

If so, I find it peculiar that Pat took the time to change the size and color of his text...

(as someone with crafty photoshop chops, that looks like an amateur's handiwork, tbh)

Money was transferred to BPT, not Alpine Brewing Company.
BPT sells tickets not beer. If he has his tickets he got what he paid for. If a credit card dispute is opened, the credit card company would inquire about the location of the tickets, not the beer.
Think about it as tickets for a concert. If you forgot to go to the concert, you don't get your money back.

I'm not commenting on the exchange between Pat & the purchaser of the tickets.

Who is defending Pat? Pat's response (if that was real email chain) was a dick response but it didn't mean that guy should get his money back for missing the pick up window. As someone posted, people purchased tickets to exchange for bottles within a specific window, not bottles directly.
Pat's response was terrible and he may just be a dick but I don't know him well enough to judge him. I've had nothing not positive experiences at Alpine. I would guess that 95% or more people had positive experiences picking up Kiwi Herman using BPT.
BTW for all of you boycotting Alpine because of this, do you also do background checks on other brewery owners or brewers moral standing before pouring $$$ into beers?
