Founders Cellar Raid 2015

picked up 4 4-packs of KBS ((2 2014's and 2 2013's) with help) 1 4-pack of Imperial (1/2 2011 and 1/2 2013) and 4 4-packs of Backwoods - 3 2013 and 2 2014.

Just wanted to say that I think Founders has just knocked it out of the park this whole week. Drove in yesterday and their draft list was unreal.

Best part it wasn't even that busy for a Friday night. Drinking at that place will always hold a special place in my heart. Just a gorgeous space.

 

I'll second this. Wednesday night was incredible. I had 13 & 14 KBS, BA Cran, Boyl'mak'r, Sweet Repute XXX, CBS, plus the Brew Dogs eisbock. It was a great atmosphere and epic tap list.

I also think the bottle releases were nice. Not everyone was able to get what they wanted, but it was nice to be able to stop by at lunch and buy a vertical.

 

For anyone in town that wants to check out Brewery Vivant order the Whiskey Rooster.

 

I stopped by yesterday about 3 pm and had in this order... CBS, All Day (took an ABV but not flavor break), '12 BWB, '13 Imperial.

As Louie Armstrong once sang, "What a wonderful world...".

 

Hopefully that was over the whole week!? I was in line at 10:30 this morning (about 75 people back) and when I got in all they had was 2014 Imperial and 2014 Backwoods. I was a little disappointed And based on the other people jumping out of line I wasn't the only one. Both of those are still on shelves...

Still got me some CBS. So it was completely worth the 2.5 hr drive.

 

Must've been the guy that had his dementia dad with him standing behind me... lol jk

Going to Founders this weekend reminded me of what this place was like before the taps really didn't have anything special. You'd walk in and Slappy Bastard, Some Weird Ass IPA and others would be on tap.

 

People waited in line this week??? F'ing hilarious(read: pathetic).

 

I purchased the '13 and '14 Backwoods Bastard in the gift shop on Friday. I shared them with two buddies last night. I want to share what many others have before me. DRINK THESE BOTTLES FRESH!!! The bourbon is very well blended in the '14 but really mellowed out in the '13. I understand that mellowing out is good for some bourbon barrel aged beers but definitely not this one.

 

Brag about having mules with you to get extra KBS bottles, then turn around and offer them for trade two sentences later....

You, sir, should feel accomplished in your epic quest to beer douchebaggery.

 

I wouldn't worry about it. No one trades for KBS anyway

 

I'm not a huge Backwoods fan but bought some 2013 this week and really like the '13 better than the '14. Totally agree the bourbon has mellowed. I usually like the bourbon forward but enjoyed the mellowed in this.

 

It gets better....he was factoring in his shipping cost while trying to negotiate a trade. I backed out immediately.
