Looks like we are well on our way to having the two stiffed in @Summer78 's NFL pool take care of. I haven't heard of any others, but hopefully we are all set then.

This seems to be roughly the same idea. I believe I've seen Todd mention this previously in bad trader threads.

@Todd could you possibly share more thoughts or details regarding this? Posting PI in the most egregious cases is warranted, but I understand that's a huge step wIth potential legal & ethical ramifications which can't be ignored. I don't envy those people responsible for making these decisions.

I've been thinking about all of this, and other beer trading items, over the weekend. Currently it's against the rules and will remain so until we do some more thinking. A partial listing of into might be a good solution, but more thought is required.

Even if it comes down to just a

    #### Main St.
    Des Moines, IA

That would be better than nothing. It gives us a rough idea about address and who to be worried about. With that, we can also send a message to some account to find out if we should be concerned if it matches the basic info.

It may take more work and coding, but what about an address lookup feature that just comes back with something simple like "good" or "bad". That way no personal info is shared and it allows users to check.

Actually if you wanted to avoid privacy, simply a first name and a city would probably be best. listing just an address could lead to someone going after the property owner (who might not be the thief).

I am not encouraging listing an address. Just give a street name, city, and first name really.

I'm an unusual case, but I had someone find my complete name, full address, phone # & employer staying with nothing but my 1st name & the state I live in. My 1st name was posted on a completely different website where I had registered under the same user name.

From personal experience, I'd advise extreme caution when changing the rules regarding posting PI. I'm absolutely not opposed to it but care needs to be exercised. I'm reasonably certain Todd & the mods agree with me on this.

Not sure of the need for posting name or part of the name at all. I think posting username that was banned and the street and city, state should be more than enough "private" info. There's very little chance of 2 BA traders being on the same street in the same city, state. Even if it happens, it shouldn't be difficult to differentiate by looking at user status and trade feedback.

Mythaeus, while that might work for a majority of the situations it will miss the mark badly with some of the very worst scams, for example the infamous re-wax schmuck. He was associated with at least 3 states, 5 cities, 4 or 5 names & 3-5 BA IDs.

Wherever he is, if he's breathing he's scheming.I'd bet he will be borrowing (with or without permission) the names & addresses of relatives, friends, spouse etc.

In such egregious cases I'd like to see as much info out as possible so that future traders (victims) might be alerted to questionable similarities, patterns etc. I understand that this isn't currently possible & can appreciate why. It's not only a huge step to take, but it potentially shifts risks from traders (loss of beer) to the site owners (lawsuits).

I realized that and understand completely. When people changing addresses and using different names, going through great lengths to scam people, even disclosing full private info won't help. In egregious cases, you'll need a whole thread with much more details, in addition to selective "private" info. Otherwise, I think the idea is to get as much info out as possible to cover as many bad traders as possible without getting BA into legal troubles by listing just the street, city, and state.

I might be in the minority, but there are 4 BA traders on my street, our block parties are great.

Hahaha...in such case, full name, SSN, and mug shots should be posted. Also, full video of the 3 of you beating up the 4th called out bad trader is mandatory.
